Pidge is a survivor of a cruel beating and left for dead in a landfill, cut and bruised, her right eye suffered a horrific infection leading to it's subsequent removal once she was saved.
Raven found her huddled in the middle of a parking lot, unable to move or fight back he guided her to a friend's store with ties to a sanctuary where she could be helped and restored. Raven checked up on her every 2 or 3 days to make sure her adjustment was easier. As a result of his assistance and presence as well as her incredible will to live she barely pulled through and came to appreciate life and the strife of those like her who suffered the loss of something so simple, but so noticeable.
Pidge would come to thank and revere Raven for his part, in spite of his insistence that he had little to do with her recovery, pointing to all the people after her discovery that played far bigger roles. Her smile is a way for her to look past immediate conceptions of her, she's bubbly, loves to joke and laugh and often doesn't take many active steps toward hiding her missing eye. Raven found her a little draining but overall came to be proud of her outlook and development, he also started anonymously funding towards a group actively working towards the recreation and restoration of eyesight. Meanwhile Pidge started volunteering for that very organization once she felt comfortable around others again.
"Don't thank me kid, thank the many others who put in the work to save you."
"I have, but none of their effort would have meant anything if you'd looked the other way that day," Pidge responds tears forming in her left eye, "So thank you... for seeing me, Raven"
Pidge is mine
I love the design if Pidge and how she came out. I also do like the idea of a story defining someone who was saved and came to be a beautiful soul not hiding any shame but also not pointing a spotlight on her disability.
Had a lot of fun designing her
