[REIMAGINED] Pink Deedee
Been in an art lull lately due to a discouraging event that happened a week back (not up for discussing btw). Despite will and inspiration, skill and quality was lost. It took a bit of reimagining to get the ball rolling again.
I chose Pink Deedee, a character I've been working with for a while, and tried to make something new of her, something out of my norm. This came as a result of trying new skeleton techniques and pushing aspects of my style a little further. Overall, I think this project was sparked by reviewing
Portzebie's gallery and how quickly he has improved in such a small amount of time. Directly, I was reviewing
Ebonyleopard's and
foxyfennec's interpretations of this character for possible style directions.
Since I was trying her in a new style anyway, I thought to revisit some of the original ideas I had for her such as the cute chat window visual I has sketched once. Her ponytail was originally created as an element of movement, though admittedly not played with often. So for this appearance, I felt I should give it as much life as I could, no restrictions on where it can go.
I also thought to give her worksafe costume (or "modest mode") another try.
I should note that I am not committing to a new drawing style, at least not yet. I find a project like this is a helpful learning exercise.

I'm honored that you reviewed my style for this!
I really REALLY love what you've done with her eyes. It reminds me a lot of the eye style you used for Keyblade Dillio. Using her ponytail for motion really adds to the dynamic feel of the piece. The glow emanating from her ponytail was done nicely, too. I like the "sharp" edges of the glow that come off of the bends in her ponytail (as opposed to a shapeless, nebulous glow, if that makes sense). It reminds me of how the aurora borealis looks!
Drawing things with influence of others' style is a great exercise. Sometimes it helps to break the frustrations and art blocks that arise from time to time.
