You mean silly mortal notions.
I usually run a heavily customised kitbash of eldritch and toon Fyzzicks distros, myself. Mostly for funsies.
But it looks like the local fey tried to create a simulacrum of a mortal royal court as part of the scenario to bring about royal life, in which case the Escher stairs are likely unintentional and represent a gap in understanding the source material. Of course, it may not detrimentally impact their intended result; we might see when we get there, if our unwilling cast member doesn't find a way to escape their role before the final act.
