Nqali comes from the Cya-Tiritt, a raptor-like species that joined the Galactic Union only about seventy years ago. She lives on Exorot, the terraformed galactic capital-world, where she is the equivalent of a PhD candidate studying the languages of her homeworld. Teaching is a part of her duties; the pointer she's holding isn't a pointer but rather a functional bionic hand that compensates for the Cya-Tiritt's limited dexterity. The "necklace" she's wearing reads her brainwaves and transmits the signal to the hand.
