If you've been following me long enough, you may remember that a couple of years ago, I drew a piece of artwork involving Kyoko Mori and Vikki Scase showing off their model of Top Hat, one of the characters from the cult 80s series TUGS. While the model was touted as a replica, there was a very strong implication that they had in fact gotten their hands on the actual prop. How could they have managed this, as denizens of the 31st Century, when the Top Hat prop was last reliably seen in June 1990? Well, here's one possible explanation.
This piece was actually drawn back in May, just as I was finishing up SPCM 5. I specifically drew it as my contribution to a special event on a TUGS-themed Discord server I'm a member of. The aforementioned June 1990 sighting was at a special TUGS Weekend at Gloucester Docks on the 23rd/24th, and most of us usually try to do something to mark the anniversary.
