For Day 3 of Monster Month I decided to draw the mascot for Yokai Watch- Jibanyan, the nekomata with the paws of fury. I find it coincidental that this series full of spiritual creatures was called a Pokemon killer, though eventually it fizzled out before achieving its supposed goal, though I can't deny that it had some interesting ideas that carried the series to gain a number of sequels and spin-offs. Though back to Jibanyan, despite his lighthearted appearance, his story is quite sad, while he was still alive he was just an ordinary cat, and he was best friends with a human girl, but one day he got hit by a vehicle and he could've sworn the last thing he heard was his owner calling him lame, so as a yokai he dedicated himself to fighting oncoming vehicles with his paws of fury, until he befriends a boy named Nate, causing his goal to get sidelined. Sometime later Jibanyan learns the truth surrounding his death, his owner wasn't calling him lame in his final moments, she was calling herself lame for letting him to get hit by a vehicle. I'd definitely recommend giving the series a chance as it definitely has heart and passion put into it, which is more than can be said than some other attempts to put a spin on the classic pokemon formula, though as for why so many series cropped up to try and take down pokemon, well let's all blame yokai, it's all their fault.
