As I am writing this Mrs. Hugin, Mr. and Mrs. Nanuk are hunting down two run away Haflingers. And I? Well, I am here to watch Rose. Two run away horses are enough, I guess.
When the Mermaiden arrived this morning, Jack was more than happy. Mermaiden is a rental horse we chose yesterday to be the mount for Mrs. Nanuk. The whole idea behind bringin Jack along was that he'd be the mount for Mrs. Hugin and Mrs. Nanuk would rent a horse so that they both could ride along asMr. Nanuk and me would steer the camping coach with the draft horse.
And after his first night all alone Jack was excited to meet Mermaiden. Another Haflinger, what more would it take to make his day? We placed both of them on a paddock and everything seemed to be fine.
Now all we needed to do was to pick up Rose, a Rhinland coldblood, 22 years old but still a mountain of muscles. I was pretty happy to meet her again because Rose had pulled our coach when me and Mrs. Hugin made a similar tour two years ago. She's gorgeous and I really love the oldlady.
Well - turned out it was a mistake that all four of us left our two lovebird Haflingers alone when we walked the half mile to pick Rose up. Because when we returned with her, we saw two blodhorse tails vanishing in the distance. Mermaiden and Jack had torn the electrified fence apart and were on the flight.
To make a long story short - while we were searching for the Haflingers with cars and on foot the two attended to a wedding ceremony. They were caught by some men at a church in a town five or six miles away. Mr. Nanuk just arrived to pick up the saddles. The women will ride the Haflingers back. And I? Well - I watch for Rose. You never know what's gonna happen next.
