Walking the streets, Vadalia was looking over her wallet. She made a fair amount of money from another commissioned brew, but it was hard to think of how to spend it. It was a night were most stores would be closed for trick-or-treaters, but surely there'd be somewhere still that she could get a nice meal or more. What she came across was a comic store that was open with many people inside; looked like there as a party going on with the public fully available.
The vixen walked inside and it looked like a rather basic comic and book store, and the guests were just people in costumes having the basic kind of fun. Pretty classic stuff, and pretty silly. She mostly kept her distance from most, as this was the kind of stuff she's seen for years before in other places. Though when her stomach started talking, she had to make a stop by the tables. Bottles of pop, cans of stuff, a bowl of punch; She got herself a glass of water and started looking over the snacks. Some small sandwiches, pretzel stick, candy; none of it really grabbed her for a while. Finally she settled for some chocolate, and grabbed one of those fake gold coins.
The taste was fine, no different from your usual milk chocolate, but at least it didn't taste fake. Finishing the glass of water, she aimed to throw it into one of the trash cans... Missed.
"Aw, dang it." She sighed, but then paused, "Wait" Her voice was deeper than she last recalled. She felt her neck, but only felt the collar, "What the heck?" he felt his chest and it was flat, and looking down more he was alarmed, "What the heck?!" Vadalia was no longer a woman. He had become a male and didn't even realized it. "When did this happen?"
"Ah, you had one of the chocolate coins, didn't you?" A much taller wolfess said, "Welcome to that party, brother." She chuckled, "This party always throws in some shenanigan stuff, but it all loses it's power after sunrise. Don't you fret." And she walked off, tugging her black hoodie over her head.
"Wait, some of this stuff is magical!" Vadalia went back to the snack tables and took a coin, "Maybe this can reverse it!" He took another coin and ate it, then another, and another.
"You must really like those coins," It was the wolfess from before, drinking some water as her tail wagged, "I mean, they're fine, but I think the one coin is enough to change things."
"So... They only change you away from your original gender?" Vadalia asked, "Each of these?" She took a few, "Maybe I could trade these in for their worth..."
"What worth?" The wolfess asked, "Their just chocolate after tonight. If they were valuable, you think I wouldn't have stuffed the whole bowl in a pillowcase?"
Vadalia growled, "Oh screw you!" he barked, and the wolfess backed up. "I didn't ask for this!"
"No one does, but that's the fun of the party." the wolfess said, "Geeze, just enjoy yourself." and she walked off.
After she left, Vadalia was strangely able to calm down. She thought about what the wolfess said, and trying to figure out what she said that could have made her so angry, it made little sense. Still she was gone now and she was able to think more clearly. Maybe she couldn't make much use to tonight, but maybe that wasn't needed. No one else seemed to be doing much either, just having fun with this party of the unexpected.
She sighed and smiled; free food still, and plenty of ways to have fun. Why not?
