I said I'd do this so long ago but never did
then when I was going to 5th gen came around so I wanted to wait on that
Well here if finally is, haha. I guess this is kind of still in my 5th gen craze so it's mostly that. I have to say that I'm honestly a bit surprised a whole gen's missing in here. Oh well.
also behold my crappy doodling style jlks
Bug - Galvantula
I remember seeing his backsprite when he was first shown. I was so excited to see the rest of him and I'm glad that hype wasn't for nothing. A pretty cool and cute Pokemon with a nice type combo going on. I actually used one, while made for a cool team member in my first playthrough.
Dark - Zorua
I remember loving him the minute I saw him a year or so ago. Crazy that my current favorite Pokemon was only shown a year ago. He's just so adorable. I've got two plushies of him and everything. I even tried keeping him NFE in my White version run. Though with him dying to everything even with an eviolite, I decided to let him evolve into a Zoroark. Not that I dislike Zoroark, it's another one of my favorites, I just like Zorua more.
Dragon - Giratina (Origin Form) and Latias
I think Pokemon Heroes has to be one of the reasons I like Latias so much. My ten year old or so self didn't like her at first because "Baw that's no dragon, dragons are supposed to be mean looking!!" and I would guess watching Heroes and seeing her be so adorable is where my change of heart happened.
I quite liked Giratina's original appearance. As in not-Platinum's, but I thought the Origin form was even cooler looking than that. Bluwiikoon, a friend of mine, also probably impacted me to like Giratina more overall. Plus maybe I have some bias for him being the mascot of my favorite game of all time.
Electric - Emolga
To be honest I really hated Emolga at first. It was a pain in the arse to deal with ingame with that constant double team spam and Elesa's bloody Volt Switching but after watching the first two episodes of it in the anime I came to adore her quite a bit. Seeing one ingame is still a frustration trigger though. It's weird how it works.
Fighting - Gallade
This was another one of those Pokemon that I wanted to have as soon as I layed eyes on it. I liked it so much that I used it twice, haha. I trained one nearly from scratch and another once Platinum came around.
Fire - Heatmor and Victini
Both were bros for my White playthrough. Since Heatmor came so late in the game, I too advantage of the Victini event to use one until I could catch Heatmor, since lack of a fire type would get irritating after a while. Victini was great, and I really felt bad parting with him once I found my Heatmor. Heatmor was a great fire type partner as well, in the short time she had to reach bro tier. I also really wanted an Anteater Pokemon so badly for some reason, and ta-da, Gamefreak delivered.
Flying - Skarmory
I never played my Silver much. I think I stopped a bit after beating Red and never touched the game since, but as I recall, my flier was Skarmory. I remember not fully enjoying using him, maybe he had bad IVs or something, but I just used him because he looked so cool to me that I didn't care that he couldn't beat anything up. Though, at the same time, my young self was stupid and never realized Skarmory's a defensive Pokemon. Derp.
Ghost - Chandelure
Another Pokemon that I really wanted to use on first sight, though then as I scrolled down that huge list of Pokemon that popped up on Japan's release, I found Heatmor to be a fire type I'd like to use even more. But, once I got my second version, I worked to get a Chandelure and it was a beast. An annoyingly sluggish glass cannon but that thing rarely ever /didn't/ ohko. Bro tier for sure.
Grass - Snivy and Shaymin
Grass, being my favorite type, I have way too many favorites to chose from. Liligant, Venusaur, Whimsicott, Sceptile, Torterra, Chikorita... in the end I picked these two though because I've liked them a lot recently. Snivy's my favorite first stage starter, and Shaymin's just my favorite legendary. I love the little guys.
Ground - Golurk
I really seemingly started to like Golurk out of nowhere. I never thought much of it until I was bouncing some fakemon ideas around and I imagined my villain having one on his ghost team. From there I really really liked it for some reason. Doesn't make a lick of sense but, liking is liking.
Ice - Vanilluxe
I didn't like this Pokemon at first, but... I'm not sure why got my liking it. I used one in my first playthrough and it ripped and teared through a lot of the second half of the game. A bit disappointing that it's not terribly useful after Iris' gym. I understand where hate for this Pokemon comes from, but for what it's based on, Vanilluxe isn't in bad taste.
Normal - Dunsparce
Yes, of all things. Minccino is a super close second but the Dunsparce I used in my HG team was so good for a Pokemon commonly called useless. I taught it Blizzard and it destroyed all of Lance's Dragonites. Aw yeah.
Poison - Scolipede
PS - I like bugs.
I wanted to use Scolipede in one of my main runs but other Pokemon kind of ruled it out to be honest. I'm still very interested in using one though. Maybe when I get around to a bug-type only run I will.
Psychic - Sigilyph
Another Pokemon I wanted to use in my main runs, but others got in the way. I might try Sigilyph and Scolipede on the playthrough I do of the deluxe game, whenever that comes, actually. I didn't know what to think of Sigilyph at first, but once I saw that it was based on the Nazca Lines, I really thought it was a neat Pokemon. Cool that they fitted some ancient America into this game too.
Rock - Gigalith
How much I wanted to use Gigalith. This was the first time I was actually eager to use a Rock type Pokemon. I was a bit reluctant when it turned out to evolve from something very early in the game, but even at that it was a right beast. It was slow, but it could tank the hit and then dish out some pain of its own. Mine's level 70 now, and she's still getting +3 or +4 on her attack stat every level up. Aw yea.
Steel - Escavalier and Bronzong
Escavalier is another one of those that I wanted to use, but fate is cruel with its 6-a-team limit. I might find a way in the future. I really want to try it out.
Believe it or not, I actually found a shiny Karrablast in Route 6, which is an Escavalier by now. I haven't trained her yet, but I might eventually!
Bronzong I used to think was annoying, but I guess it still is. I don't know what got into me to make me like it. Maybe obscure creature concepts just attract me. Either way, it made for a pretty good sleeper. I should try and use one properly some time.
Water - Floatzel
I used this Pokemon twice as well. I didn't care that I already had an Empoleon on my team, I just really like using Floatzel. It's fast, and punches hard for the point in the game where you get it. A somewhat shallow movepool, but at least I tutored it Ice Punch. Then it was really a bro.
Welp, that's that. Thanks for reading if anyone actually bothered lol.
