What better series could I start Monster Month with than the series you more than likely think of when someone brings up Monster collecting? - Pokemon. If you grew up in the late 90s and early 2000s like me, then you more than likely know how intoxicatingly fun this series was, the idea of travelling the world and becoming the best like no one ever was and putting together an entourage of elemental creatures to fight for you at your beck and call was like the ultimate adventure. While it's not the best, and you could make some valid criticisms against modern pokemon, it's still a nice starter series for the monster collection genre, who could forget waking up on Saturday mornings to see what exciting adventures Ash and Pikachu would get up to next? Speaking of Pikachu was the monster I decided to draw for this day, sure pokemon has had a number of mascots over the years with various starters and legendaries on the box art, but none of them hold a candle to how iconic of a mascot pikachu is, even people who don't know pokemon know who pikachu is.
