My Moxie history panel included sampling thanks to some legwork by the con staff. Hotel rules were that within con space you could only serve food or beverages purchased from the hotel (at inflated prices). After the sampling, anyone who wanted more was welcome to follow me up to my rented drey (hotel room) for full cans to take.

What an interesting set of hotel rules! I can see why from a legal perspective, but goodness does that make something like a Moxie tasting much harder to do!
And Moxie is such a good soda. It's a shame it's practically impossible to get in this part of the country!

Not as impossible as it once was. Orca Beverages outside of Seattle, WA is one of three bottlers of Moxie and they produce theirs in glass with cane sugar. They are a specialty bottler producing mostly old-time regional sodas. Is there a Cracker Barrel Restaurant in your area? If so, you can get Moxie as Orca is the soda supplier for Cracker Barrel's store section. If it's not on the shelf at CB, they should be able to get it for you, but it won't be cheap.
