Zahi seemed to have placed a high amount of faith at the unfortunate Nevrean she barely met, offering to pay her first body work. She made sure to keep how the procedure were done extremely vague to avoid Yan backing out, describing lightly how the enhancement are introduced into her body.




Yan naïve as always was easily persuaded and the appointment with a trusted techdoc was scheduled. The next day Zahi picked her up and drove to the destination, however told her she couldn't come as she had someone to meet soon. Alone in front of a long alleyway barely light, she slowly made her way through it to reach her destination, she couldn't help but look back telling herself she still had time to run away.




Against her survival instinct she pushed forward, climbing down the stairs leading to the techdoc office, blood covered the floor under the patient chair, wires hanged around countless machines. Robotic limbs kept behind locked fenced area preventing people from easily robbing the place and in the middle of it a lady sitting on a chair enjoying a cigarette.



'' No upgrade, clueless look and white as snow, Yan is it?'' the woman asked, Yan nodded timidly '' y...yeah im here for my first upgrades''. Tapping the patient chair the doctor gestured Yan to lay down '' get your clothes off and lay on the chair, we don't want a mess on your clothes right?'' her request made Yan froze solid for a few seconds before slowly stripping down.




As she laid on the chair, the doc made sure she was positioned just right before activating restraints wrapping over all her limbs. She tried to protest, to scream for help but her mouth was quickly bound shut leaving her completely incapable of fighting back or escaping.




''Name's Gloomy by the way, Zahi prob lied a lot to you but don't get mad at her yeah? First time is always worst and the pain will forever change you as a person, can't be beautiful without breaking a few limbs you dig?'' . Gloomy approached a threatening device hovering Yan's head, the shape of it left no room for interpretation she began to panic immediately but all she could really do is let loose tears.




'' Everyone has gone through it, once your flesh is gone its far less painful and scary to replace, repair or upgrade but to even have said upgrade you gotta do the first step. Look before we begin i want to warn you like i warn everyone who sits on my chair, don't hold grudge against me im just doing my job just like all techdocs does. If i prescribe meds you have to take after the upgrades, don't fucking ignore me or you'll have no one but yourself to blame for a fucked up recovery and lastly.... Should you want to upgrade more and more, be aware the more you add tech in you, the higher the risk you become a husk, someone who went fucking insane or completely vegetative''.





The machine slowly approaches Yans eye, her pupils quivering in pure distress as it grew closer then the worst pain she has ever felt accompanied with the lost of her sight followed. Blinded and powerless she felt her body being carved, injected with substance and unknown items being integrated in her body yet somehow she was not able to simply pass out. While the procedure only lasted a few minutes, it felt like an eternity and when her eyes finally were replace her vision was clearer than ever. She could see weird interface being installed and Gloomy staring at her while smoking, had little emotions to the carnage that just happened.





'' You did good Yan, since it's your first time i'll help you step by step alright? You'll need meds for the next few weeks so your upgrades don't cause discomfort and your body accepts them. I'll let you rest for a while then we will do a simple cranial nerve exam making sure the wiring was placed correctly''. Yan stared blankly, completely drained and limp as Gloomy lifted her motionless body to a more comfortable chair, she should feel betrayed at the moment but all her emotions could muster right now was pure bliss the pain was over.
