—EVENT: YWA Seasonal Breeding Show - Winter 2022-2023
—FEATURING: MON Fifty Shades Of Indecision (Faline) and MON Schwert des Jinx (Zapper)
—PROMPT 3: Growing up - Entry 01
Time flies. Zapper and Faline were already 7 months old and their mothers are no longer needed around. Faline and her mother Riri had an easy goodbye, as Riri stayed in the academy where she belong and Faline was sent to her forever home. Zapper, on the other hand, was having a hard time dealing with the losses.
Seeing his beloved mother and his dear best friend go just like that shattered his poor heart. These were harrowing days for all the stable staff. He would not eat, would not sleep, and refused to stop trotting and neighing desperately around the fences, trying somehow to call his loved ones back. No response.
A week later, the happy and gentle colt that everyone knew turned into a depressed and shaken little thing; it was heartbreaking for everyone. The possibility of bringing his mother back to try to redo the separation process in a softer way crossed the table once or twice, but it was an unfeasible solution since the mare could no longer be moved from the academy and, at worst, could not stay there for the rest of her life. Frustration gripped the team, especially after the first warnings from the vet, until an idea came along: buying Faline.
Fortunately, his owner knew Faline's owner and negotiations began as fast as possible. The reasons were enough and, after an agreed price, the filly was sold. Faline arrived at the Hovanov Acres a day after her official purchase, on a late afternoon, and immediately placed in the paddock of the saddened Zapper. The joy of their meeting was immediate, and to everyone's relief, it seemed to fix the problem.
