I figured it was time to establish what the Crux Omnimatrix is and the morph augment that makes strallows possible. So, this is a bit of a lore dump. Enjoy.

Don’t worry about Aethoid right now. It will be explained another time.

CRUX OMNIMATRIX
The Crux Omnimatrix, an implanted consumer technology featuring a seamless integration of aethoid, bioengineering, cybernetics, and nanotechnology to empower the user with a range of augments to affect the environment or the user themselves. These applications are accessed through a fusion of mental and physical interfaces, and are controlled by thoughts and hand gestures.
Developed by Strallow Crux Industries at the height of the SGOI Empire’s Golden Age, the omnimatrix is the latest invention of personal technology, blurring the lines between technology and fantasy, allowing the user to tap into a power previously thought to be unattainable by the ordinary. This power utilizes the user’s bioelectricity to translate into various useful applications such as social networking, levitation, bioluminescence, observation, and shapeshifting while passively providing mental security, environmental protection, and basic healing, such as tissue regeneration.
Thus, the omnimatrix democratizes yet centralizes power, allowing governance and law enforcement to curb power misuse — and preserving harmony in society. Moreover, this centralization is organized into a single source code of precise entanglement, allowing a single entity to exert their authority over all users. This authority can be further delegated to local law enforcers to allow personalized decisions based on individual circumstances.
Ultimately, the omnimatrix was a groundbreaking invention that took the Empire by storm, though, its time in the starlight was brief. In the decades that followed, its legacy remains a blessing and a curse, as it sits at the center of a conflict between two great powers.

So, if I understand this right, allowing people to augment their own bodies means that nobody can be weak enough to be vulnerable in society, therefore nobody can be the victim of an attack. At least, not physically - this doesn't cover emotional abuse. Is that right?

Oh thank you! I spent a lot of time on these so it means a lot to hear.
And yes, you got the idea. The omnimatrix is a living standard, nearly everybody has one. Regarding vulnerability, there are safeguards in place. In most cases, one user cannot influence another user without their omnimatrix granting approval first. It also comes with security measures to block physical and mental intrusions. Furthermore, since it has centralized control, the SGOI Empire can enforce against misuse by remotely manipulating/disabling the user's omnimatrix.
