I've been a vegan for about 30 days now. Just say a month. I'm proud of the fact that I haven't "messed up" even once (at least to my best knowledge, I'm very careful about reading stuff and think I'm pretty well informed about what's what) Anyways since turning vegan I have been exploring my options. I am NOT a cook, far from it. I use a microwave, or I make cold stuff. That's how I am, so stfu. Prior to becoming vegan I was a major cheese addict, even though I've been a *vegetarian* for more than ten years. Seriously. Almost everything I was making had cheese in it (no wonder I'm fat) The fact that I'd have to give up cheese, along with how pricey some vegan things can be, is the main thing that's kept me from progressing for so long. However, I have found some AWESOME vegan cheeses that honestly taste the same or better than dairy cheese. I mean, this is coming from someone who's been a cheese addict. You don't have to take my word for it though, try them yourself. :p
Vegan Sub
Bread or buns (make sure they're vegan)
Tofutti (or any) Vegan Cheese. I use both Mozzarella & American, adds to the flavor.
Smart Deli Vegan Turkey.
Fresh Spinach
Pickles
*Insert any other toppings of your choice here! Lettuce, Tomatoes, etc!*
WayFare's "We Can't Say it's Cheese" Cheddar Cheese Spread
Galaxy Nutrional Food's Vegan Garlic Cream Cheese
Tofutti & WayFare make THE best vegan cheese products, imo. Also Daiya Foods, however their products are a little pricer.
Any and all of that is optional/you choose your own toppings. This is just the way I have come to love it. I seriously think it's better than Subway rofl!

I've been struggling with the debate of veganism for years, to be perfectly honest. "I' love cheese too much", "it's too expensive", "I just plain don't like enough vegetables (still true)" I'm not sure I could have without the help of some of these vegan cheeses (especially WayFare & Tofutti), they've satisfied my "cheese craze" enough for me to not miss the "real stuff". It's a personal choice though, and something you hafta figure out on your own/explore all the variety of choices available until you find the stuff you like that tame the "crazes". XD For me personally, I'm in so many animal rights groups on facebook/etc that I'm exposed to some pretty graphic facts almost daily and I just couldn't ignore the connection anymore. D: As for milk...haven't had dairy milk for years anyway, I never liked it for some reason. I drink soy and more recently, coconut...which is super sweet and now my fav in cereals, etc. XD
Im going to try to start getting my milk from a local farm Vs. the store. They have 4 cows they milk daily(after the calves have their fill) They are milked by hand and will live their entire lives on this farm along with their calves. They will never be slaughtered or abused. Theres a 2nd farm closer who also has raw milk. Its illegal to sell raw milk, but both farms give it away in exchange for a donation to feed the cows.
Its always kinda bothered me about what happens to the dairy cows on the factory farms. I would indeed like to not support them.
I think I'm doing pretty good being veg. I never would have thought I would be as much as I used to love eating meat. but Tak gave me alternative choices of foods and I learned there was a better way to eat. He never said scolded me for eating it or ranted at me about the cruelty of the meat industry. He simply said try this instead. Ive semi-converted others using the same method. One friend now prefers boca over real hamburger.
I support your veganism and hope it continues to work for you.

That's awesome! If I had a place like that anywhere near me I might opt for that too...well, if I even liked dairy milk in the first place lol. My main issue with dairy, without going into too much detail, is the connection to the meat industry and how the calves are (in most cases) taken away (males are often sold for meat (veal), females are raised as future milk machines) I have read about how the cows cry and search for their calves for weeks, just too much for me to take or think about even somewhat supporting. Although again, if I had a cruelty free option near me like you have I might go with that...but my main dairy weakness has been cheese anyway, so I guess I have less to give up lol. There's ice cream...but Tofutti also makes some awesome dairy free ice cream treats (I LOVE their "cuties", especially the mint chip)
I have a friend who is about 98% vegetarian, and I think my choices have influenced her a lot lol. She never eats meat around me, I've never aksed her not to but she always takes that upon herself. She only once in a while has chicken, and more often than not she chooses vegetarian options (even when not around me) She told me she made vegan cupcakes the other day lol. I never try to force stuff on people, but I'm afraid I can get very "vocal" about animal rights. It's just one of my "hot topics" and I'm very passionate. I get overly emotional easy, literally to the point of shaking sometimes. I just love animals so much and can't tolerate cruelty towards them, which in this society, happens every second of every day.
Vegetarianism itself is still a great step, in my opinion. I would never tell a vegetarian they're not "doing enough" etc. If you choose to take the step to veganism that's great, if not, that's great too. You're still doing a huge thing for the animals by just avoiding meat, and especially opting out for a cruelty free method of getting milk, that's even more awesome! Thanks for the support, btw!

Also.. ive kinda wanted to get out of eating so much meat and actually tasting different kinds of things.
I even get a craving for tofu every once in a while.
Its good too. I spice it up and fry it in the pan with some corn oil and whamo! Put some salad on a plate, top it off with tofu and other good n tasty things (tastes better withOUT the dressing actually), and its an awesome meal!
