I hate that it's still legal in America >< I try to avoid vets that do it...it's overwhelming how common it's become. Some people think spay/neuter and declawing go hand in hand. That a "responsible" cat owner has their cat fixed AND declawed...wtf! Makes me so #
Same here. Spaying/Neutering stray cats that get rescued off the streets and go into re-homing is common practise here but declawing is a big no-no. Some owners choose to spay/neuter their cats but for some reason those who don't get frowned upon by the RSPCA or Vets, which sucks >__< My cat was a rescue girl so she was spayed before I had her, but thankfully because of the law here, she has all her claws ^^
People who get their cat's declawed to save their furniture are just selfish and shouldn't own a cat if they don't want possessions being clawed. That'll be like humans having the ends of their finger's chopped off to the first knuckle so they can't scratch to put in in perspective ¬__¬

Oh, I'm all for spay/neutering, especially of stray/feral cats or cats that are let outdoors, to help with the overwhelming crisis in the shelters. Cats breed like bunnies, and there's so many homeless/overflowing in shelters. Mytec's spayed, although she's an indoor cat. Had her since I was a kid, she was born to a feral/stray cat that came wandering up to my granma's place. My granma kept some of those cats, and I took in one of the kittens as my own. Totally agree about declawing though, if someone cares more about their couch than their cat...they shouldn't have the cat in the person place. >.o
Too true. There is a bit of overflow of unwanted kittens in the UK which end up in re-homing centres which is so sad to see D= If I could have them all I would. Lol. My cat is also an indoor cat. We live near a main road and also in a first floor flat, so her having freedom to go out is near impossible anyway X3
And it must be a Grandma thing. My Gran is always finding and taking in stray cats and looking after them. At one point she had over 8 cats, but she now only has 1 cat and a visiting cat who doesn't stay for more than a couple of hours a day.
