I took inspiration for his look and character of Captain Psilocibina from Puss in Boots and Sinbad the Legendary Sailor from the One Thousand and One Arabian Nights tale.
Tormenta is inspired off of Mr.T. I got the idea when I was looking up images of Genies and found that a lot of peoples interpretations tended to have them wearing a lot of Chains, probably because they are often being enslaved for their power, so my mind drifted to Mr.T and then found a quote from him that inspired me! (I am Paraphrasing but it went something like...) "People always ask me if these Chains I wear are too heavy? I tell them that when they brought my Ancestors over here from Africa they put them in steel chains and shackles around their arms and neck but I bet they never once asked my ancestors once if those chains are too heavy! So I turned those steel chains into gold to symbolize the fact that I'm still a slave, only my price tag is a lot higher, and I go by MR.T so nobody ever calls me Boy!"
