"Circuit, Why would you send that kind of report?" Max asked, "Do you got any idea how he's gonna react to this news?"

"We don't even know all the details about this!" Laceter added, "This may not actually be a breach of security happening."

"It is what we are suppose to do." Circuit was heard over their comms, "Orders are orders. No one else was wanting to do it." "This is also gonna put another thing on his plate." Laceter said, "He's already got a hot temper."

"You think keeping something like that hidden would be any better?" Walking up beyond them was their coyote commanding officer, "Besides, he should be aware of this to handle what we can't."

"Yeah, but now he won't be around as much to trade intel of what to do and what's going on." Laceter said,

"You make it sound like that's a problem, Dean." Firefight said back, "We were sent here to prevent anymore casualties up on this mountain." He said, "Make sure the new weapons in the arsenal are ready. These soldiers will need them for the days to come." Laceter and Max both saluted him

"Laceter, Come with me. We're gonna check the perimeter." Firefight said, walking for the cave exit.




Heading outside, the skies were partly cloudy, but starts could be seen once and a while, up on that mountain. Standing out there, keeping watch, It was peaceful all the way to sunset.

When things fell quiet, Laceter broke it when the too found a spot to see most of the mountain people could ascend through. "Hey, why'd you choose me to take watch with you?"

Firefight just looked over to the wolf.

"Foresight could foil any ambush while keeping watch, Circuit could sense any machinery they had, and Max has more of the weapons for holding the line."

"You got some good points." Firefight said, and then shrugged looking down, "Probably gonna have them take the dawn watch, they'd be better for dealing with attacks with low visibility."

"Yeah, that makes sense..." That silence came back as the two kept watch, Laceter spoke up again, "Do you ever envy them? The soldiers?"

"Why? Our assignment is to protect them, if things go through correctly, we would be replacing them."

Laceter was a bit quiet at that, and his ear twitched a little. "Try listening to them for a bit, some time. The things they talk about, what things and teams the plan to be apart of once they leave the army..."




He was about to continue, until both their ears raised. Laceter grabbed his shotgun and coyote his grenade launcher. They both aimed down the mountain, They docked low behind rocks for concealment and defense, waiting for what to come into view, what was making that sort of rumbling. Watching the slope up the mountain, they saw nothing, yet they ears something coming from that direction. Lacetor kept watch down the slow, but Firefight looked up and saw what was coming. "Get to the caves!" he shouted, grabbing Lacetor and the two ran. They were shouting as down came a volley of rockets.
