The Wandering Dark had only just begun to travel across the star above, bending the shadows as Amendelwyr's flight dipped lower to the rocky grasslands. The heat of the day and the pockets of rising air had only barely relented when the storm approached. The crackle of thunder resonated off distant mountains and rolled through the land around her.
Her mission would be delayed, but it was not a fault for lack of preparation. Nature itself was at work and she must abide it. So as her wings moved down further toward the edge of a bluff, she powerfully beat at the air to brake, gently touching down while she looked to the fading light.
