[What If Edward became the new Ruby Dragon]

Edward knew the Dragon Ruby was dangerous in human hands, especially for someone like Phillip who abused its power. Through sheer luck, Edward managed to knock out Phillip and take the ruby, giving it to his friend Kiyoshi, who might have a safe way to return it to the other realm. Unbeknownst to Edward, the dragon's influence was slowly taking control of him. By the time he returned to Kiyoshi, it was too late. The Ruby Dragon's power overtook Edward, changing his form and personality. He claimed the ruby for himself. Unlike Phillip, who wished for the world to answer his every whim, Edward used this newfound power to take what he wanted and strike fear into anyone who challenged him—befitting a dragon. Now he sits in his throne room, surrounded by his spoils, cackling with mad power.

As a kid, I played Streets of Rage on the Genesis/Mega Drive. It was a fun game, and I beat it a few times the normal way. What I didn't know then was that there was a "bad" ending. When you meet the final boss, Mr. X, he offers the players the chance to join his group. If one player accepts while the other declines, it forces them to fight to the death. The winner then faces Mr. X—only to take his place. Seeing my favorite character sitting on the final boss's throne, laughing maniacally after the credits, scared the living hell out of me as a child.
