Chee had this one up, so I decided to snag him! I don't have a lot of "little guys".
Starting with his grandfather and his single merchant ship, the d'Celestio family have proven themselves to be shrewd and capable. Within a mere two generations and a very beneficial marriage, the d'Celestio name has risen to the status of nobility. This quick rise has not endeared them to the "true born" nobles of the realm, who have begun scheming against the benevolent merchants.
Revfir was the eldest of his siblings, but his appearance and temperment made him ill-suited to inherit the family's business. His parents knew that the other races of the world didn't react well to the "fur-faced" gnomes, and so Revfir was offered other avenues - including simply to live a pampered life of a wealthy son.
Instead, Revfir found himself enthralled with magic. Not the artistic and beautiful illusions that were common to the gnome people - no, he grew to love "War Magic". Reading tales of knights wandering the lands and helping people, Revfir always thought how strange it was that the heroes of these stories were never a gentleman wizard or kind-hearted sorcerer. Seeing himself as more than fit to fill this role, he threw himself into his studies.
Having a hero in the family would easily garner them some considerable prestige, and so his parents were more than happy to pay his way into a prestigous arcane academy, which he excelled at. An oddity, but the university's spellcasters were more accepting than expected.
Having (mostly) completed his studies, Revfir is eager to step up into the role he's laid out for himself. Although, the more spotlight he shines upon himself, the more annoyed the rivals of his family get...
