Here's a closeup of the head for my cosplay.
I originally ordered a black helmet from Evike, but the bastards shipped me an OD-Green one. So I had to spray paint it. I tried to dye the straps, but... that didn't work out... shit just rubbed right out. Least it dyed the respirator straps. So you can see how obnoxious the green helmet straps are. I'll be changing that this month.
So here we go again, me uploadin' photos of things from real life. Silly me.
Anyways, I attended No-Brand Con in Eau Claire this year, and I had a blast there! Unlike the first time I attended, back in 2007, I decided to mix things up by cosplaying this year. I really didn't have much in mind, nor the time, so I just decided to mix things up with some of my airsoft gear.
Needless to say, the end result was better than I expected. Some of you may or may not agree with me, but I had tons of pictures taken of me when I was there. I couldn't walk down the hallways without being stopped and asked for a photo at least once or twice every few minutes, and all of that during my two day stay!
I initially was hoping to strike a look as a Helghast, with the stuff I had laying around. I made the gas-mask myself, using a 35 dollar respirator as a base. Otherwise you've all seen my airsoft gear previously. However, as I wore it during No-Brand, I thought to myself that I should really spin it off as my own character. The appearance is similar to a Helghast, and it won't be helping that I intend to illuminate the goggles this month, but still.
Despite nearly overheating on several occasions (three layers on top, two on the bottom) during the harshly cold spring of April in Wisconsin this year, I would still do it again, even during summer, which I intend to when I attend Wausaubi Con and Geek.kon in the next following months.
Needless to say, if you're a Wisconsin Fur attending Wausaubi con and Geek.kon, feel free to pull me over and say hi! I don't bite, I promise! 'Sides, it would be awfully hard to try and bite though that respirator anyways, nor none that pleasant.
Be sure to let me know what you think of the costume, I would like some feedback for a change! XD

Here's a tip for nylon-webbing recolors... I did this with my Fox Tactical LBV88-E.
Spraypaint can also be used for them too, and it works well, but because of the surface texture of Nylon web, you have to spray from about three different angles to get the paint to land and settle on all sides of each strand.
This prevents it from looking black from one angle, but then when you look at it from another angle, the fabric looks like its original green.
Rustoleum's camouflage paints are superbly nonreflective and they tend to stick well to both synthetic and natural fibers well enough, as long as they're clean. I painted that harness from black to foliage green about three years ago and the only things that are starting to fade back to black are the metal buttns and plastic Fastex buckles.
Other than that, very cool. ^^

Appreciate the input, Redtail!
I was actually thinking of spray painting those straps, before you suggested it, but didn't know if it would work. I'll definitely give it a shot come this month! And thanks for the headsup about getting it from different angles. I'll make sure the crap gets soaked really good then XD.

It's best to use multiple coats from about three to five different angles, depending on the denier of Nylon. If it's lighter, finer stuff, you generally do it head-on, and at about 45 degrees from perpendicular to the strap so that it coats the sides of the fibers.
A bunch of thin coats always looks better than one or two thick coats.

Aye, that guy! Hadn't actually seen a moving partial fursuit until that guy, so I was fascinated with it. Seemed like a good enough fellow though. Ya wouldn't happen to know his FA by chance, would ya?
And again, out of curiosity, are ya going to be attending any other cons this year? Always fun to meet more people :3

I'm hopin' to, especially if a few of my airsofting friend's decide they're coming too. I know one of my friends has already bought the pieces for this (and a second is heavily convinced to do the same), but if they show up as I think they're going to, lets just say that there is going to be a small squad of Death Trooper's walkin' around~
