New Employment | Anthro Snowy Owl Twinning TF
This story sucks ass and is outdated
I sat alone in my store like I usually did, picking at the feathers on my arms and tapping on my beak repeatedly out of boredom. Though that day I had a lot more nervous anticipation behind my stimming, for I was waiting on someone. It was going to be the first permanent addition to the store I’d had since I was trapped here all that time ago.
See, my boss had recently had a bout of insanity -although that wasn’t saying much, as they were insane pretty much all the time- and decided I should create another branch of TheShamefulStore focusing on karaoke of all things, which would mean I would have to run both places on my own.
Now of course, that is literally impossible, I’m only one owl after all.
So…my boss’s brilliant solution to the issue their asinine idea was to have me hire someone and then turn them into a complete clone of me.
Yeah, it makes total sense, I know. This coming from the same being that thought turning me into an Anthro Snowy Owl and locking me in a fantasy magic shop for the grievous crime of writing TF stories made sense.
But anywho…I sat there waiting for the new hire. I’d pretty much scratched a valley in the floorboards from dragging my talons along them…can you really blame my anxiety about this whole thing though? Someone was about to come in here, thinking they were applying for a regular store-managing job, and then I was going to completely blindside them with something entirely different.
And while I was pondering that, I heard the door open. I usually didn’t like dealing with customers, but I was happy about one this time. It gave me something else to focus on.
The customer was a short and confident-looking guy dressed in semi-casual wear. He marched straight up to the counter, while staring straight at me. I immediately hit him with my best customer service smile and gave him my usual rhetoric.
“Howdy there! How can I help you today?” I said in my fake-cheerful voice.
“Hey, I’m looking for Ollie? Here for a job interview.” He said.
Fuck.
My blood ran cold at that very moment, and my smile grew wider as I tried to mask my guilt and discomfort for what was about to happen.
“Ah yeah, that’s me.” I responded, dropping the customer-service voice for a more casual tone.
“Oh great!” The man said. He then held his hand out for a handshake, and I obliged. “My name’s Edmond! And might I say, that’s a very realistic fursuit you have there.”
(“You don’t even know the half of it, buddy…”) I mournfully thought.
“Well nice to meet you, Edmond. Just follow me to the backroom and we can do the interview from there!” I chirped. Right after that I got up out of the counter and started leading him to the backroom. I tried to repress my bird-walk as I did so (I’m very self-conscious).
“You uh, got anyone else to watch the store while we do this-?” Edmond asked.
“Oh it’ll be fine! There are systems in place.” I informed him. As I said that, my mind wandered back to that guy who tried to steal a bottle of purple TF lean a couple of months back.
“Oh, okay then.” Edmond murmured as we stepped into the backroom. If I’m being honest here, it was less of a backroom and more of a bedroom, as it was the only real private area I had in the whole store.
“Do you uh…live here?” Edmond said in an awkward, joking way.
“I do actually! Now please have a seat.” I dismissively told Edmond. He awkwardly sat down afterwards. Meanwhile I grabbed two cups of tea out of a minifridge in the corner and gave one to him. You could probably guess the purpose of his cup.
“Oh! Thank you.” Edmond said, taking a sip of the tea. I looked away right after he did so…I still wasn’t ready to deal with the ramifications of what I was about to do…sure I’d written about stuff like this in the past, but it was all fiction…this…this was real.
“…Is…everything okay, Mr. Ollie? You seem a little- auuhhh….” Edmond’s body immediately loosened up. No doubt the delirious/hypnotic properties of the tea were kicking in.
I sighed and looked back at the soon-to-be twin of me.
“Just want to say…I’m really sorry about this.” I told him, though he couldn’t really comprehend what I said.
With that, I let out several slow hoots. The magic of the tea reacted with the sounds I made, and Edmond’s body tensed up.
He held his arms out in front of them and watched the changes start. They started with his fingers, which stretched out and flattened, losing any and all flesh and bone as they became finger-like feathers that were white and tipped with black. His palms were soon covered in snowy-white feathers, and said feathers started to grow all over his arms, which were widening into a more wing-like shape and structure.
He didn’t seem too bothered by this; all things considered. Honestly, that only made me feel worse about all this, as I was completely brainwashing him into feeling relaxed about something he should be utterly terrified of. Something he should be resisting.
As the feathers grew in, some of them around the edges of his new wings took on a black, speckled pattern, which persisted as they worked their way beneath his shirt, which magically burst off of his body, allowing me an unwilling front-row seat to the next stages of the changes.
The feathers kept up their path of growth, spreading all over Edmond’s chest. They were thick and fluffy. I should know, after all. They were technically my feathers too I subconsciously felt my chest as I watched Edmond’s feathers grow in. Once the feathers had finished their hostile takeover of his mid-section, the black-speckled patterns began to etch itself into his new feathers, and along with that, he grew a couple inches in height to match my own height.
Edmond slowly and shakily stood up afterwards. I assumed his lower half was changing by now.
Edmond allowed himself to be lifted onto tip-toes, and squatted downwards, allowing the magic to more easily shift his stance into being digitigrade. Edmond let out a grunt as he leaned onto a table for support. I was confused by this at first, but then he lifted up one of his feet, and I realized he was likely trying to make the changes easier for themselves. All I could really do was watch with heavy discomfort. It was like watching a car crash; I just couldn’t pry my eyes away.
The backs and fronts of Edmond’s shoe began to bulge as his feet changed into sharp owl talons. Most of his toes fused into two claws, while two more claws began to sprout from his heels. After a few moments, his shoe was torn in half, sending the tops flying, and sending the soles clanking to the ground. After that, Edmond lifted up his other foot, allowing it to transform and rip through his remaining shoe. After that, both of Edmond’s new, downy-feathered talons were planted firmly on the ground.
Afterwards, Edmond’s pants began to tear themselves apart starting from the hems of the legs and slowly moving upwards as more of Edmond’s legs changed. Starting below the knee, his skin turned dry, gray, and scaly before being covered in the same downy feathers that covered his talons. Once the changes reached his knees, the original type of feathers started to grow out, working their way up until his entire lower half was covered.
His clothes were now nothing more than shreds of fabric all over the floor, and internally I was grumbling because I knew I’d have to clean all this up later, but my attention quickly turned back to the transformation itself.
The feathers finally made their way up Edmond’s head and began consuming it within a mere few seconds. A few feathers jutted out into fluffy tufts, namely from his cheeks and forehead. Once they were done, Edmond’s eyes began to grow to about double their size, reshaping into a purely circular shape. The last change to his head would come when his nose and mouth fused together, turning dark grey and hard, then protruded forward into a hooked beak.
The final change in general would be several long tail feathers beginning to jut out of Edmond’s back, until he had a full fan of tail feathers.
I narrowed my eyes in discomfort as I watched the changes come to a close…once his body was done changing, a complete copy of my outfit began to form on him. Circular, blue-rimmed glasses, a red button-up shirt, a grey dress-vest, a long rosary, black dress-pants, and blue spats that partially covered his talons.
I was looking at a mirror image of myself. No, it was more than that. It was me. A perfect copy. A twin. It was bizarre, surreal, and honestly a bit existential. It was terrifying.
Before I could further ponder how terrifying this was, the lightbulb in my room started to flicker, and a vaguely humanoid entity made of electricity materialized out of it.
It was my boss. The one that transformed me and trapped me in this store for all eternity. An entity that refers to itself as ‘The Protagonist’.
“YOU SEE WHAT YOUR CRIMES HAVE CAUSED. YOU CAUSED THIS. YOU HAVE INFLICTED YOUR HORRID IMAGE ONTO SOMEONE ELSE, ALL BECAUSE YOU COULD NOT QUIT INFLICTING UNWANTED TRANSFORMATIONS UPON OTHERS.” They boomed in their legion-esque, unnerving voice.
“You wanted me to do this. You threatened me into doing this. I never wanted this.” I responded.
“YET IT WOULD NOT HAVE TRANSPIRED HAD YOU SEEN JUST HOW MUCH PAIN YOU HAVE CAUSED BEFORE WE HAD TO INTERVENE. YOU SEE IT NOW, DON’T YOU? A SHAME YOU COULDN’T REALIZE THIS BEFORE YOUR CONDEMNATION CAME INTO EFFECT.”
I didn’t respond. There was no fighting with this thing. It would never back down, and if I resisted it, it would turn me into something like a worm or any other lowly critter…that or just physically torture me.
“YOU WORTHLESS BIRD…BUT IT DOES NOT MATTER NOW. GET THIS CLONE OF YOU READY TO ACT.” The Protagonist hissed before vanishing again.
“…Hey uh…other Ollie?” I spoke, causing the other me to snap out of his reverie.
“Huh- what? What’s going on?” He asked.
“Time to get back to work. I’m uh…gonna take a break for a bit.” I answered.
“Ah, well uh, alright then.” The other me bird-strutted out and I was left alone…
Edmond was gone, fully replaced by my thoughts and feelings…It was all me now.
I would have to ask The Protagonist to send me to the karaoke place soon…but for now, I just laid on my bed and started crying.
