If you're clued up on your space history, then you will know that today marks twenty-five years since the 311 unfortunate denizens of Moonbase Alpha found themselves being launched into deep space, after an explosion at a lunar nuclear waste dump created a rocket-like reaction which blasted our Moon out of its orbit. In that time, the Alphans have continued to hurtle through space, passing through countless other star systems, encountering alien life, and coming to terms with what it truly means to be human.
Okay, okay, all the above is complete bunk, but the point still stands - today does mark twenty-five years since the events of Breakaway, the pilot episode of Space:1999. And since this year, it happened to fall on a Friday - my usual posting day - it was almost inevitable that I'd decide to do a crossover.
