Things Have Changed: chapter 2 tragic reunions part 2
[d]Make sure to read part 1 before reading part 2.[/b]
Unfortunately, it wasn't even close to what I was hoping for because then Michael said. "HA!! I am lying! You're no longer even human, you'll never be a part of this family again even if you didn't "accidentally" killed Mom, or been "kidnapped" by some unknown entity."
It felt like my heart was shattering to pieces, and I was starting to cry, and to add salt to my emotional injury, Michael said in such a tone it sounds like that he doesn't even care about me any more, It was more like he was making fun of me in some stupid voice. "Oh, did that hurt the little Wolfy's feelings?~ We abandoned you because we knew that you're gonna be nothing more than a stupid animal."
When I heard that, something made me trip over and I fell onto the floor with my belly, It's really out of character for Michael to tell me such lies about our family abandoning me and I was getting very angry at him.
"NO!!! NO! NO! NO!!! THAT'S NOT TRUE!!! YOU DIDN'T ABANDON ME, I WAS KIDNAPPED BY SOMEONE FOR SOME KIND OF MESSED UP SCIENCE EXPERIMENT!!!" I yelled in a whiny-sounding voice while pounding my right fist onto the floor repeatedly.
"If they're alive, then they are looking for me! Family means no one gets left behind or forgotten!" I was getting very anxious and desperate and I was struggling very hard not to howl like a wolf.
There is no way that they would have known that this would happen, but then Michael said as he starts to walk slowly closer to me. "Of course, that's what family means, unfortunately, it's far too late for you because you're now a stupid animal and that's all you ever will be!!!"
Michael attempted to punch me right in the mask, I tried to move away but it felt like I was moving in slow motion.
Then finally I woke up, gasping for air, well... that nightmare was certainly different than the usual...
It usually ends with figures surrounding me while yelling at mean things at me like, "Murderer!!!" and "You deserve to be inside a cage!" But among all of those mean things, there's one that really hurts the most which is, "How can anyone love a monster like you." ... and... this recent nightmare that I just shared with you the reader, by typing it down here on this document.
Day 82: Weird things have been happening in when I'm sleeping, I sometimes wake up in a different place from where I fell asleep, I don't know if someone was moving me in my sleep or something else...
At least every time I wake up to this phenomenon, I have a very pleasant dream of walking around in the sunflower field at mom's farm.... before... you know, all this crap happened.
Day 96: When you're stuck in a library inside an abandoned science facility full of mutants, it's either you're very alone, isolated, and bored or you're fighting for your life against some kind of mutated monstrosity.
Fortunately I discovered some activities to do to pass the time and to keep me distracted, even though they're not exactly productive, at least I'm trying to continue my education since I'm no longer able to go to school... if it still exists.
Speaking of education, I'm learning a lot faster than usual, I went from doing math that's only challenging to a 12-year-old to algebra and geometry within a week.
I'm absolutely astounded that I'm learning this fast, I'm even surprising myself when I'm making complicated science projects too.
Recently I made myself a makeshift radio receiver with broken radio parts that I found in the office area with very little to no instructions and amazingly enough, I can access some radio signals that have music, such as classic rock and jazz.
Either those radio channels are fully automated or there's actual concrete evidence that's human civilization still persists to this very day, too bad I wasn't able to find parts to make a radio transmitter to send radio signals to have a conversation with survivors to confirm my suspicions....
Of course, I didn't perfected the device on the first try, and of course, my ADHD did slow down the progress that I was making, I had to disassemble it and reassemble it many different ways until I got it right but it took me way fewer tries than I thought it would....
Day 101: I decided to put my improved crafting scales to use, I'd have made lots of elaborate traps for any human to use against the latex creatures and to make exploring this place more bearable, along with making it easier to find me, with the countless of notes that I placed on the wall The writing on the notes that I made is poorly spelled but the view of the words on it is quite clean and easy to see.
I also decided to make good use of that one cloth costume that I assume the original Puro made, by placing the hangar that has the costume cloth on it near the entrance of the black latex creature territory along with a node that says. "Human, you did very well to get this far but, the road ahead was going to be quite difficult to get through.
So I've got this towel costume that I found for you to use, to make it easier for you to get to the other side of their territory.
Just to make sure that you keep a good distance from them and you should be fine, but wherever you do, DO NOT ENGAGE THE ALPHA IN COMBAT, I don't want you to make the same mistake that I did when I first met the Wolf King.
I hope your luck pulls through human!
From your mysterious helper,
Puro."
Day 107: I still try to look for answers on what happened to the world while I was in cryogenic sleep, I look in places that I've already been, but I always keep running to dead ends with either pieces of information of the experiments that the scientists did or old faded pieces of newspaper.
I did find one piece of newspaper that had something very interesting in on it even though it's not related to what I was looking for...
It was a New York Times newspaper from the year 2012, it reads "Archaeologists Found a Magic Statue.
On October 1st, 2012 a satellite was acting a bit strange, at first scientists at NASA thought that it was just a glitch on one of the satellite's sensors. Default Page Style
But when they investigated the matter they discovered that there was an anomaly admitting a strange signal that can be detected from outer space from the west coast of Japan, chinese archaeologist Shin Pun found said anomaly on October 31st, 2012. Shin claims that it's a statue that was made before the Dark Ages.
The statue in question, is a statue of a kitsune with nine tales and has a handle of a sword sticking out of its forehead. Shin was willing to sell the statue to American archaeologists for $3,000.05.
Upon investigation of the statue, scientists concluded that it messes with electronics. Scientists speculate that it's some kind of electromagnetic pulse generator powered by some unknown form of energy..."
The rest of the newspaper print was faded out, which was kind of annoying because I wanted to know what happened next.
Uncle Matthew used to tell me and my siblings stories about the historical artifacts that he finds. I always found them to be very interesting, unfortunately, I don't seem to remember a single one of his stories... I really miss him.
Day 111: I really tried to make my life here a lot easier and less depressing orange-powered alarm clock to help me wake up for the morning... until a random latex parasite completely devoured it unfortunately.
I also made an effective security system made of ropes, pulleys, wheels, and a bell so I can keep out those annoying latex snow leopards.
Despite all my efforts to keep myself entertained and stimulated with science projects and activities such as reading, writing, and mathematics... deep down, I feel like I'm going to be alone forever.
I did try to befriend the more dumb latex beast that also lives in the library, but then I'd learned the hard way of what happens when you give a wild animal food.
If you give a wild animal of any kind food, more of them will come and they will associate you with food and if you don't meet their demands... they'll try to kill you.
They tore many books Into piles of shredded pieces of paper while I was defending myself, especially one of the book series that I was trying to read and complete which was Harry Potter. and I barely started to read The Half-Blood Prince...
Ugh! I hate this place so much, just when I think I'm making significant progress to heal my emotional wounds of loneliness and "that thing" I get stabbed in the back!
Day 113: I continued to do chores and maintenance work in the library, hoping for a search party or anybody to come, but... nobody came....
Day 115: The announcement speakers in the library kept going on and off within every few seconds and every time they turned on, the announcement speakers started to make static and garbage noise, It was like someone was trying really hard to make contact with me.
I knew that this was happening ever since I woke up In this place it was happening every day. but, it was so intense on this day in particular.
It was going on for hours on end, but eventually it stopped entirely.
To be honest, at the time this was happening I had no idea what was going on or what is causing it to happen.
Day 116: I found a hallway that might lead to an exit, along with some very odd creature that's moving on its own without any legs, it looked like some kind of disembodied tail that can move very fast... creepy.
The hallway seemed to have as many drawings on it unfortunately I don't remember a single one and but it was filled with a lot of books on the floor and white goo puddles on the floor and ceiling.
I eventually made it to the other side of the hallway and opened the door but, I was met with this. weird... big... white... round... jiggly... thing, that was blocking the door on the other side.
I have no idea what it even is... but to be honest, I think it's better off that I don't find out.
Day 117: My usual encounters with the latex snow leopards are starting to get fewer number, I'm having a hard time finding an opportunity to use Psychic Frost on them for once and see a useful result... if it's proven to be lethal to them.
At least they are no longer going to harass me he every chance they get, but... It kinda makes me a little bit on edge... what if they're planning to do some kind of big attack on me... or something even worse.
I'm not going to continue thinking about what scenario those things are coming up with, because I'm gonna have really bad nightmares.
Day 119: I noticed there was a lot of number locks around this place but, every single one that I find are broken, something seemed to ripped it open and chewed up the wires inside... with the number locks broken anything can go through the door that were supposed to be locked.
No wonder latex beasts are coming in and out of the library whenever they want.
Day 120: One time, I was taking a close look at one of those weird eye scanner-looking mechanisms... I have no idea what this they're for but, every time I find one, I see the name "Colin" on a piece of paper that was coming out of the device.
I try to use it myself, unfortunately I just receive an "ERROR" on the piece of paper due to no longer having an iris to scan... but it seems that a latex creature has noticed the importance of this device to this particular individual now known as "Colin."
I learned that the hard way when I found another eye-scanning device in the library somewhere. It seemed to be a little bit beat up but still functional, unfortunately it was some kind of humanoid goat creature mimicking the shape and texture of the device as some kind of elaborate trap, it seemed to be a little bit annoyed since I'm not the human that it was looking for and moved on.
At least it wasn't hostile towards me, but, now that I mentioned it, I'm starting to notice a lot of things that are fake, like the yellow traffic cone was a latex creature in disguise, like the statue of a gargoyle hanging near the balcony of the library, it was a latex creature in disguise, even some food and drinks were fake!
It seems kinda crazy... but, when you think about it... it kinda of makes sense, there are no rules on what shape life would take, that's why there are such thing as thistles and choking weed, both of which are very annoying plants to find in your garden or farm.
I still remember the pain of pulling up those thistles, and those same thistles to regrow overnight, It was quite irritating and a pain to pull just to keep the crops in good condition, not to mention having to look for miles to find a patch of them.
Worst of all they mainly grow on the hottest days of the summer, at some point I started to call the summer "thistle season" due to the overwhelming amounts of thistles that grow every single year.
And don't get me started on the choking weed, those things are the very definition of annoying. they killed off an entire row crops within a week when we first encountered them, things were getting so bad that the whole family was trying to take care of the problem and it still wasn't enough... at least some crops survived even though it's not much.
Day 123: I decided to try "fixing" the announcement speakers so they would stop annoying me with static and garbage noises that they are making.
Unfortunately. I'm having a hard time figuring out how to fix them, and then out of nowhere I'm starting to have these... flashes, of seeing "that thing" happening again, and every time I see it.. I start beat myself up and say mean things to myself.
"Ugh! You stupid animal Puro!" I said out of frustration while banging my head against a piece of the speaker repeatedly.
"You loved her, and you killed her by accident! I've should have known better than to hug her. why did I think that my body would behave differently if I come physically in contact with another human." I continued to bang my head against the peace of the speaker repeatedly, but eventually, I stopped.
But as soon as I stopped, I realized I've been here for 4 months long months that felt like years. and nobody came from me, I know that there's something is out there but I have no idea if it's even human and they don't seem to be interested in me either or the place that I'm trapped in.
I do also know that there is someone else in this building but they never seem to took take the time to actually meet me in person I guess they are too busy to even say hi.
All of my hard work to make the library human-friendly as possible, along with making it easy for them to even get here in the first place... is... it... all... for... nothing... I guess my family really did abandon me...
I was starting to get very upset that I'm going to be stuck here all alone for the rest of my life, all of that planning, all of those specialized traps to help any human be able to get here... does it really matter?
Am I waiting for nobody to come?
Is all that preparation, just a waste of time?
I was starting to cry really hard and loud while beating myself up again, this time with a hard book cover.
"Why am I still even trying!?!?" I said with a distorted sob.
"Nobody is ever going to come... I might as well just, end it all... by killing myself!!!"
Committing suicide... such a concrete plan to end my suffering, and since I'm on a very tall building, all I have to do is to jump... besides, what's the point of living when you're gonna be alone for your entire life?
Then suddenly I felt a spine chilling sensation, it felt like I was being touched somewhere that I didn't know even existed.
I immediately stood up and turned around, and saw something that absolutely shattered my plan on committing suicide.
It... it was a human, and not just any human, it was Michael!!! I guess some of my family really was kidnapped with me.
My tail started to wag, even though I don't have that picture to remember exactly what he looks like but, I had one of those gut feelings, I'd recognize those freckles anywhere, but, he's a lot shorter than I remember.
He appears to be wearing the same type of black rubber swim shorts that I'm wearing, I guess our kidnappers had a really low budget on clothing. He seemed to be quite scared and confused, but he's still human thanks to me, he was way luckier than I am, I guess all of my hard work wasn't all for nothing after all.
Of course, I punched myself in the gut multiple times, because I was starting to think that I was having a hallucination or some kind of dream, because this was too good to be true, but itn wasn't a hallucination it really was him!
"Michael! I'm so happy to see you again, it's been such a long time since we last saw each other." I said with a cheerful sounding voice!
"AAAAH!!! How do you know my name!?!?! W-whatever you are!?!?" He seemed to be startled that I know him, and to be honest, if I just woke up at some in some unfamiliar place and met some weird creature that knows my name who looks very similar to the other parasites in this facility, I'd be scared too.
"Don't be alarmed! I'm not here harm you or assimilate you." I said quickly.
I was so happy to see him that I could just hug him, but of course, I'm not going to do that, the last time I did that something terrible happened...and... he and I... might just be the only ones left in our family.
Who?! Who are you!?!?" He said in a confused voice.
"I'm the one who was helping you Indirectly, with all of those traps that I set up." I said with a serious but calm sounding voice.
"So you're that Puro quy, who left all these yellow notes around..." He said with a voice that sounded like that he finally figured something out.
"Indeed I am... though, Puro Is not my actual name, it was a name that I was using for myself since I forgot my real name... and... I know you don't recognize me, but I'm pretty sure, that I'ma your big brother... or what's left of him at least..." I said.
"You're not my big brother, he is not a furry!" Said Michael in his adorable grumpy voice. I should have expected that. Looks like I have to do some convincing too...
"Indeed I am, I just... simply have... an... unfortunate condition that makes me look like this.. against my own will." I said while pointing towards myself.
Michael slowly walked back out of fear and confusion and said. "If you really are my big brother...? Then say something only we both know."
Ah, this is a very easy question. Of course, my memory of my past life is a little bit vague and has many gaps, but it might be enough to recall something that only we both would know.
"... I remember when we used to play hide and seek in the sunflower field at Mom's farm and when our dog peed on our big sister's shoe during the family reunion, it was absolutely hysterical... too bad that all of that is over.. I said while I'm trying really hard not to cry again.
Michael paused staring blankly at me... and by the look of his face, he knew that I was telling the truth.
"An-Andrew???" Michael said in a horrified but curious-sounding voice... wait a minute... that name that he just said... it feels, so familiar....
Andrew... just hearing that name alone makes me feel like... that, I have a sense of ownership of that name... it even started with an A...
As the fur on my body flared up out of excitement I said.
"Is that my real name? Just hearing it makes me feel like you're really referring to me, as a person..."
Then suddenly out of nowhere an old memory flooded into my mind... I was wrestling with the dog outside... but then I heard mom say. "Andrew! Time to come in! It's movie night, remember!"
Then suddenly out of nowhere an old memory flooded into my mind... I was wrestling with the dog outside... but then I heard mom say.
"Andrew! Time to come in! It's movie night, remember!" As soon as I heard those words, I stopped wrestling with the family dog, and ran back inside, the dog of course, fearing being lonely outside ran into the house with me.
End of part 2
Unfortunately, it wasn't even close to what I was hoping for because then Michael said. "HA!! I am lying! You're no longer even human, you'll never be a part of this family again even if you didn't "accidentally" killed Mom, or been "kidnapped" by some unknown entity."
