For my first tribute drawing for Bluth Month, and in celebration of Don Bluth's birthday on the 13th, I chose the scene where Mrs. Brisby meets The Great Owl from The Secret of NIMH. There were so many great scenes to choose from that it was honestly very hard to pick one and try to do it justice. I redrew Mrs. Brisby many times until I was finally satisfied.
Like many people, I grew up watching Don Bluth's animated films on VHS over and over again. I adore the style, colors, and darker tones of his films. The Secret of NIMH has really grown on me as an adult and is probably tied with The Land Before Time as my favorite Don Bluth film.
Happy early birthday, Don Bluth! Thank you for your influential and inspiring films.
