Character

Hira was born in Nepal to a secret society of assassins as the youngest daughter in the family. Even though she was born without arms, he parents didn't want to give up on her; they trained her the best she could, and when they discovered she had a gift for telekinesis, they were ecstatic. Next to her formal education, her parents taught her how to fight, and she quickly came proficient with her sword. Those of her peers that tried to bully her because of her missing arms would soon learn to regret it, though this also got her into trouble with the teachers and authorities on more than one occasion...

The young tigress was well underway following in the family business when disaster struck: a major earthquake levelled her village, as well as other cities in Nepal. They lost their house and most of their possessions, but most of all, she lost her father. With her mother she had to leave behind everything she knew and move to a safehouse of their society. But this trauma motivated her to study seismology, hoping that in the future, she could warn others to spare them from what she had lost. However, her older sister took a much darker path: she was lured by the promises of power coming from a sect of dangerous zealots: the Kitsune Kult, where she hoped that her magic would bring back her father one day. Hira never saw eye to eye with her sister ever again.

Their paths would cross again. One night, after K-Day, she and her mother went after one of the kitsune leaders of the KK, the ones responsible for K-Day, to make them pay for their crimes, but also to get her sister out of their clutches. However, their plan went horribly wrong; they underestimated the KK's defences, as her sister had anticipated their arrival and set up the traps specially for them. When they came to face her, the girl they knew was gone: only a zealot with a lust for power remained, so much so that she would betray her only remaining family and attacked them with Fiend Fire, a very destructive magic fire. Hira had to reduce her mother to just her head before the Fire burned all of her body away, and since then she is carrying her mother around, taking care of her. Hire sworn to her mother she would never take the dark path her sister took.

Having almost lost her life, she decided to continue on a safer path, and continued her studies in seismology. But the call to adventure remained alluring. She signed up for the Terran Fleet so she could go see the stars one day. After a long program of military training, which took a bit longer than usual due to her impulsiveness and stubborn behaviour, she managed to graduate, and was assigned to the Pioneer. Although Hira is officially assigned as a scientist, she is also part of the security team, as chief of security Louis Kalasha recognised her fighting skills being useful to his team, and she also bonded with the drill sergant, Kjeld Hingsterud, who also had his dealings with the KK. Her mother would receive some mechanical enhancements to gain her independence somewhat again, and helps to co-ordinate the special ops team with her many years of experience. Nonetheless, they still share quarters with each other.
