Nightwolf acts as guidance among Team Justice, often being considered the elder or secondary leader due to his intelligence and no-nonsense nature. While he is less powerful than most of the team's members, Team Justice considers Nightwolf a valuable ally to their heroics.

Origins:
After a series of events leading up to Phoenix and Forest seeking out a sage known only as Xatu, they discover that the world will be destroyed due to the world's imbalance. The following day, the two learn of a legend about a human having been cursed by a Ninetales and consequently caused the world's balance to become unstable. After being falsely accused of being responsible for the world's balance being unstable by troublemaker, Gengar of Team Mischief, Phoenix and Forest were forced on the run and searched for the truth.

Upon reaching the Frosty Forest and having a run-in with Articuno, Nightwolf intercepted the Legendary Pokémon and defended the duo. Nightwolf told Articuno that they were not responsible for the Frosty Forest becoming warmer, convincing the Legendary Bird to let the duo proceed. Afterwards, Nightwolf would assist Phoenix and Forest in finding Ninetales, who could help prove Phoenix's innocence. After being caught up with by Team A.C.T., who would proceed to battle the fugitives and Nightwolf, Ninetales stopped the fighting and revealed that Phoenix was not responsible for the world's imbalance. Shortly after things had settled, Nightwolf joined Team Justice and continued to aid them in their quests.
