First came the feeling of vacancy. It was as though a void had opened up inside the adventurer, he signed a deal to rule… and yet he felt nothing? The feeling grew, even as the room began to feel smaller, the bones and candles strewn about the chamber seemed miniscule, even the spark taken in exchange seemed nothing to him.
The room seemed small. The demon - seemed small, shrinking into a red speck, was he to master him? To master all? He looked down at the shrinking room, and saw a glimpse of himself - though the sight was not what it should have been. His eyes saw the seams of his clothing rip and tear, to show muscled-red flesh beneath, replacing his human flesh. Bony protrusions encrusted his shoulders, his arms torso and legs.
Still he grew, and within that growing void inside, a new spark was enkindled. From the nothing came a rage, a profound sense of leadership, a divine right to rule. A right that demanding to be, followed. It burned from within, lashing out from his void, a demonic fury that tore at the fetters of the warped creature, so his new skin split to leaked green flames.
He tore himself free from the ground, great wings breaking free from his body and leveling all obstructions as they grew to their heights. Still he was not finished. Belching flame, and smashing as he grew, He soon towered over everything, not simply other people who ran in terror, but their buildings. A monster of colossal proportions, the new demon proceeded to destroy, to claim.
The great Demonic king bellowed, and all bowed before their king, cowering in the shadows.
****
The city the demonic king was currently leveling had been engaged in a proxy war with city currently playing host to his lair. While the citizens of this place continued to send adventurers to harass him, they were terrible at killing him. He was not keen to see a more competent power ascend in the area - or unite them agains them. As the towers fell around the titan, he remembered the founders of the doomed city’s lack of care when they destroyed a forest that was there first.
Perhaps one day it would return.
