I'm uploading my old artwork over the next few days. This piece is from 2022.
This is Merriam Deirdre, the true form under the armor of Ciarán Naoise. She was born in a realm of Ravenloft to two great nobles and became an actress, learning under two famous actors there by the name of Naoise Alorrahn and Liah Ciarán. Her father, however, lost a ton of money on failed mining operations and left his family to work to regain his nobility. One night, Merriam walked down the stairs to find her parents dead and the family sword lying on the ground. As she picked it up, it spoke to her and bound her to itself, forcing her to carry out it's will.
To cope with all of this, she made up a character, Ciarán Naoise, and spent more and more time as him, using her acting skills and newfound magic to live as him all the time. This made him his own personality in her mind, a knight to take on the burdens that she is running from.
Notably, I didn't design her to have Dissassociative Identity Disorder, but my DM that had it told me I had replicated it very well by accident and I kind of rolled with it. I find this very interesting.
In terms of her design, it's pretty plain and I would have done it differently nowadays. I also dislike some of the proportions I gave her.
