A Rock and a Hard Place (The Arceus Ascension Pt. 2)
A Rock and a Hard Place — 6.2k words — 23 pages
Apologies for how long it took to get this part out... I actually wrote it not long after the first, but personal issues stopped me from doing all the uploading work in a timely manner.
Anyways, this one is where the story REALLY gets going... we get to see what became of dear Star after the "unfortunate" events of the first, including that dang pink doughball that caused all of this! That rocky plate seems just out of their reach... but getting it is hardly the end of it~
This one features post-transformation, struggling to keep some semblence of self in the presence of overwhelming new instincts, and a certain surreal pseudo-ego-death visit from a certain SOMEONE beyond time and space.

We really have something very interesting in this chapter.
Speaking generally about this series, with this chapter I understand a little of what the others will be about and I find it interesting the way in which you will build the following plots. If I understood correctly, Star must collect the other strange sheets of different types to consume them inside her and when she has contact with them, Star will transform into a Pokémon of this specific type acquiring both its body and its personality and instincts to then be submerged in a surreal journey where the sheet speaks to her and she has that existential conversation that she had in this episode about the weaknesses and strengths of her type to finally become human again and repeat the cycle with another artifact. I really find what you have planned here very interesting. From what you said at the beginning when Star absorbs all the artifacts and understands each of the events she will become Arceus permanently.
Speaking of the chapter in particular, my favorite part is when Star begins to succumb to Lycanroc's instincts and how she behaves like a real canine when the mental changes end up absolving her. The precise details of actions such as using her sense of smell to detect danger or the use of her growls fascinated me quite a bit and I just hope to see how you create the mental changes of each of Star's transformations, of course if everyone has a mental change.
Another detail that I didn't mention in the first chapter was the creative idea of changing the color of the letter when the wild instincts begin to take control of Star and her friends' minds. It conveys a chilling feeling that without realizing it they begin to succumb to their instincts and lose their humanity.
I also liked that Mew spoke in the third person to refer to himself. I always felt that this is how a mythical Pokémon with a child's mind should speak. I think Jirachi also communicates that way in his movie.
I have other comments regarding the chapter, such as the scene where Star has her astral journey and ends up talking to the surreal entity of the sheet, but I don't want to make this comment too long. I look forward to the next part and see what Star or another character will become. I still have doubts if all the transformations we will see will be only Star's or will it affect other people like her friends, which I still don't understand why they were also affected if Star is the one chosen to absorb these devices.

Wow, what an amazing comment! Don't feel bad about making a big one—I'm a huge nerd for this kind of stuff, so I LIVE for these in depth analyses.
You hit the nail on the head with the general ideas—even more important than the shifting of form is the shifting of theme and mindset that comes with each type. Each of them will have a different personality of sorts, as you will see... each is one more step towards an as of now obscured goal.
I love using color in my stories, so this series is a real treat. The orange dialogue is the color of Dusk Lycanroc's fur, and the tan-brown color is the color of the Rock plate/type itself (that's also the color of the text at the top of the description)!
Mew is an interesting one... I won't say too much since it's story plot, but I think the childish attitude makes sense for something that's effectively the "stem cell" species of pokemon.

Yes, I actually tend to write quite long comments, full of longer analysis; I usually make comments on story sites like FanFiction, I usually go to other sites like DevianArt or FurAffinity to look for specific TF stories, since they are my favorites. The first story I found out about you was the TF story of Koraidon/Miraidon, it was really an interesting read and it made me follow you closely to see what other stories you have to offer.
Personally, I'm more of a fan of mental changes than physical ones, but I don't often come across many stories that focus on personality or mind changes, which is a shame.
As I mentioned before, I'm interested in this project you're doing, especially seeing the mental and personality changes that the protagonist can undergo when she becomes a Pokémon of different types. Some types have a very strong personality, like the Dragon, which are known as quite proud and greedy creatures, the Ghost type, which are mischievous and playful by nature, or the Fairy type, which are more peaceful and reserved creatures. I'm interested in seeing what personality you bring to Pokémon with types like Water and Grass, which don't have such a specific nature, but you can do a lot depending on which Pokémon you turn Star into.
I can only wish you success in this project, and well, you'll see me reviewing at least once the chapters you publish, probably with extensive depth.

All this discussion of the stony plate gives me nostalgia. Very curious to see how they go about getting the other plates, and what sort of Pokémon they'll become each time. Def getting reincarnation vibes from the way they reacted to the plate in the first chapter, and now the discussion with Mew. Loved that moment when she guiltily thought about the convenience of having paws. I've always imagined it would be amazingly convenient to be able to fluidly transform just one part of your body to suit your situation or preference.
Looking forward to reading the rest!
