[GA] Watarimono and the Four Saint Beasts
This was drawn up for me several years ago by my good friend Kyle. I asked him if he could draw my kitsune ronin character and his spiritual companions. What I got in return was more than I'd expected. =3
Watarimono is a 'young' kitsune (no, he only has one tail, and that's the proper way!), and is a fairly skilled warrior. Coming from a family of famous itako, he also has the ability to communicate and interact with spirits around him, and can even combine with them in a sort of "willing possession" ritual. He has a very calm, yet sometimes silly personality. He loves to drink his sake, but rarely gets drunk (even though he acts like it sometimes for fun). He is also a very passionate person, in regards to cherishing life, love, and honor. In addition, he is also often mistaken for being a woman, due to his feminine features. Perhaps from his mother's side of the family?
His friends in the background? From top-left to bottom right, Byakko the Warrior, Genbu the Sage, Suzaku the Monk, and Seiryuu the Ninja. You could call them his "guardian spirits". They mostly travel with him as spiritual companions, and merely watch him during combat... On occasion, they will lend him their power individually, bestowing upon him not only the great power of the saint beasts, but the wisdom and personality of whichever one possesses him.

A mixture of cultures, yes...but these characters actually had no anime influence whatsoever. ^_^ Though I understand what you mean...
Watarimono was one of my long-running roleplaying characters for many years. I didn't want him being "altered" by adding in anything from any anime series, so I worked hard to keep his core character concept as far from anime as I could.

I'm sorry, but what got my attention was the metal headband on the character in the lower-right. I've studied ninja extensively and haven't seen any historical reference to a headband like that. However, that aside I like the picture and have it as one of my favorites. :) After all, historical accuracy should almost always gives way to artistic license in works of fiction. I'd just like to say that I like the characters, they seem full of personality, it must have been an interesting role-playing game! :)
Heh... Yeah, that headband was sorta Kyle's "artistic liberty". I did want Seiryuu to have a headband of sorts (more like a hood concealing the top-half of his face), but it came out like that. Still, I was happy with it. And no, he's not part of the Konohagakure clan. XP Think of it as...ah...a protective plate to keep him from getting shot in the head by modern day warriors. You know, those guys with the shooty things. XD
Also, yes, he was SO much fun to roleplay with. Canonically, he meets up with my character too. Merely by chance, mind you...
