Given how small Tial is and living in a house sized for much larger individuals might feel a little overwhelming, while the dog house is sized just right and rather comfortable, as well as providing a quiet place with some privacy that they would need from time to time. Though given Tial likely hasn't told their parents these reasons, not surprising they would worry.
