Hehe, I have had this same issue from the other side of the fence where I'm normally Horde. Did you choose a mage so that it's easier to travel between unfamiliar cities by porting or just because you wanted to play that class? The reason I ask is because when Worgen's came out I chose mage and found porting to be really helpful when you don't know the travel paths.
ROFL!! I finally started a troll huntard and I have to say, even though my main is alliance, the hordie starter quests are fun!...Still - I have done exactly this. Old habits die hard. xD (PS - if you ever wanna play a toon together, lemme know! My main server is Kael'Thas, but I have a few other toons on different servers. ^^)
