Yeah, I did that too. Jumped from an 18, to a 12, and within a few days was going 12 to a 6.

Then went 6 to 4, and 4 to 2 a few days ago. I'm now stretching 2 to 0 with this taper.

I jumped as well... 18 to 12...had a roommate thrust the earring in with a bit of baby oil. That hurt like a bitch! I can't imagine how this would feel.

Do you sleep on the spike, or does it get in the way too much?

I slept on it last night... and frankly felt nothing! *laughs*

I'm going to try and get it through today. Cause I only have one taper and I need to work on my other ear, haha.

I would go to a 2 or 0...but my friends don't think I should...

Mmm, yum. I love gauges. I want a zero in one ear and a two in the other with various other normal sized piercings. I went from an 18 to a 10 in both ears, and am now only an 8 in one, and still a ten in the other...I haven't had the money for new gauges, and even when I do have some extra, I cant' find any pretty ones. I'm afraid to touch my ten because I gouged it pretty good the second time I gauged it(first time was with the acrylic type earrings and my ears sucked the color out and got infected, then after the infection went away, I got metal earrings and went right back to a ten from a closed hole....ouch.) So I'm just scared it hasn't healed proper, and I don't want to hurt it more. Wow, what a weird rant...sorry bout that...just get me started and I don't stop....^__^;;;;

Patience is a virtue. I guess the more you wait, the smaller the risk of infections and other complications is.

I read from this one piercing/tattoo related site that some people who stretched their ears too fast eventually had to remove their earlobes surgically because the stretched flesh couldn't take the pressure... Uh, or something. o_O

Yeah, impatience can bring a lot of problems with ear stretching.

A good friend of mine, once he got big enough to stick a finger in his ear... he would rip his ear, and then gauge up 3 or 4 sizes at once... and let it heal over and then do it again. He's never going to be able to go back to a normal size. (He's about 3 inches now)

I remember when I stretched my ear (left one, only ear I got pierced). It help'd taking a lot of cough medicine and slowly pushing it through.
mine looked like a 'claw' more than a straight spike, went from like 22 guage to 12 guage

I would worry about having one of these. I woudl get my ear caught on something doing something XD Then all that pain would amount to more pain haha

I need to invest in a taper myself. I bought the 0 about a month ago thinking I could weigh down my ears and shove them in... bad idea! hurt like a bitch and bled like one too.

Do not stretch your ears with a taper yourself. They aren't retail sold for a reason.

After this, I ended up ripping my ear 3 or 4 times because I tried to pull the taper through to fit the jewelry in at the end. The amount of blood kept causing the jewelry to slip so I never got it in. Ended up downsizing and allowing my ear two months healing time before I ended up stretching with talons.

I consulted with my piercer regarding this and she agreed, tapers are not for unprofessional use. Its dangerous, and a pain in the ass (ear).

It hurts anyways, its easier to use the hooked talons. They go through in one motion and you dont have to try to pull jewelry through afterwards.

wow! I live on the site BME and I've yet to come across the talon over the regular taper. What makes them easier than just the straight post of a normal taper?

The talon allows you to just curl it through your ear in one smooth motion, you dont have to pull it completely through and you can allow what you've stretched with to remain there so the hole can heal. Instead of irritating it by trying to pull the jewlery through yourself.

To be honest, I'd recommend going to a piercer. They charge next to nothing for stretches, and you know its being done properly! :)

i have the same tapers, but one magenta & one pink.

if you're having trouble with this maybe try a 2 first and wiggle it around for a while, until you can accommodate the 0?

ear stretching is like anal sex-- just need to go slow and use a lot of lube, it might hurt at first but it'll get in there.
