Self serving as it obviously is to do a birthday picture for ones self, yesterday (May 21st) was my 30th birthday, something of a milestone and perhaps just as well, cause for much merriment...leaving time to bawl uncontrollably in your paws when nobody's looking.
But I kid of course.
To commemorate the passing out of 20's I did this little diddy, something I naturally wanted to finish on my birthday, but wasn't left with much time given the fact I was quite busy. It was an overly pleasant day, fortunately for the past 4 years my birthday has fallen on very nice, sunny and warm days. I didn't get a lot, but I did receive one surprise gift picture commission from a very dear friend (who knows who he is so I won't embarrass him by saying) As well a special little present from Simba, in the shape of a little golden bear, adequately named birthday bear.
I don't get too overly wound up about gifts usually, but this one was really special to me. I'm a bit of a closet fan of the care bears (rather the vintage ones, not those crappy look alike clone-ones that saturated the market just a few years ago which were poorly made and could easily choke a toddler.) and I asked if he could find me one of these, and he did.
Up until I met Simba Birthdays weren't particularly special at all, they were overly meaningless days that just passed as every other. It wasn't until I found him that they became something more special, something to actually look forward too. So, I did this to dedicate to him, and thank him for all those wonderful birthdays I've had over the past 5 years.
Love you angel, thanks again.

Boz, I'm not far behind ya. 29 will be my magic number come June, and obviously 30 is only one more year beyond that. Hopefully what I say about the transition will comfort you some, encourage even...
I'd say for the past 5 years I've been preparing for turning 30 myself so-to-speak. I wish I could have done substantially more, but I think for what fate threw my way I've done well enough. As a kid I never did much beyond boyscouts but I did have friends and stuck well with school and as a teen I may not have made the football team but I graduated and even got as far as an associates degree where others dropped out. In my 'tweens' I worked on numerous fanfics, comics, and even a novel...nothing on the level of Frank Miller or Stephen King but enough of a start - lord knows in the bigger comic books they have bad habbits of dwelling on or recircling past material - how many times has Marvel reincarnated Jean Grey as the Phoenix or added loopholes to Wolverine's origin? Moving further on, I succeeded in moving out of my parents before my 25th birthday - fulfilling a vow I made to myself at age 17 so my life wouldn't turn into a creepy manbaby-wanna-be-college-frat-boy, and where I live now in Oregon nature always provides me breathtaking views I never would have beheld in the suburban monotony my parents raised me within. Point being, despite not being rich I think I am doing alright for the average man my age.
Also I think I'm wiser now than I was at 19, and less naive than 9. Any immaturity I have left I plan to save for this fella...

For another example of realizing I have gone somewhere, at work a coworker perhaps 20-years beyond me struggled with an Excell program that seemed rudimentary to use to me. Although I did not brag or rub my face in it, I realized "Hey...I am actually good at something!"
You have plenty more good years ahead of you Boz. You're not old at all...if anything 30 marks the start of your PRIME years! You can't be called a dopy kid anymore, you're officially grown up and well on da way.

Being 30 is like being in love, no one can tell you you're in love you just know it through and through.
I'm certainly glad that you enjoyed your Birthday bear. I have to admit he was a joy to give. It was heartwarming that you brought him around that day when we were out and about.
I only wish that I had been able to make the full force of your gifts and treats all occur on one day but hey, having three days to celebrate your birthday is a dream come true right, especially when there is cake!
Love you too kitten!

Gack! Another birthday while I was away. Some parents must've been pretty busy in September XD
:Hugs: Happy belated, dude. 30, eh? I know things have improved greatly for me since I reached 30, so I'm pretty sure you've got plenty to look forward to.
Glad to have known you through the years
