Through unideal circumstances, Conrad Green grows up in into a by the military sponsored orphanage.
Discipline and honour hammered into his mind and up till he becomes 16, he not questions them. The new sentience treaties had been passed he Conrad knew little to nothing about his parents or the true reasons why he grew up in the orphanage. They only told him about his parents what he needed to know – that his mother died because of a NeoAnimal raid and that his father is imprisoned for “dishonourable behaviour, refusal of orders and treason”.
With 18, Conrad is allowed to live his own life. With 24 has he successfully ended his officer training and made one successful campaign against raiders and warlords within or near UCA borders, so that he quickly rises in the ranks. Interesting is that, while he not shuns having soldiers who use cybernetic implants in an extensive manner, he self never wanted any.
2155, upon TerraGuard’s foundation, he is already in the rank major.
His quick rise in ranks not came unnoticed and some officers are concerned about Conrad Green’s ambitions. They point out that Conrad’s refusal for getting cybernetic augmentation will be a “bad” example and could become a problem.
2160 their schemes come to fruition, as the leading circles decide to “end” Conrad’s career. They do “promote” him into the rank of “Colonel” and make him the new liaison-officer to TerraGuard. There he is supposed to stay and never return.
Within the next eight years is Conrad doing his duty, but tries desperately to gain the leading circle’s favour back and tries to get their attention.
In secret finds he TG’s possibilities to help all inhabitants of Earth astonishing and fulfilling. He’s torn between his goal to reform the UCA military and his possibilities to help the people through TerraGuard, while he must still act as the UCA’s “parade boy”, so that his true intentions stay hidden. He has often arguments with Felix Siebenleben (who distrusts humans), as Conrad has an equal prejudice against NeoAnimals (due the circumstances of his parents). He also has often quarrels with Castor, which he barely acknowledges as sentient being, as more a better service craft. To Prof. Oyande is his relationship ambivalent, as he can’t help but wonder about all possible military applications of the Professor’s inventions and that is exactly the reason why Prof. Oyande is critical toward Green and the military.
However, within Conrad’s years in duty, they learned to respect each other.
