Kena feels lost and conflicted. She knows her life has been a difficult one. Originally hatched in the mountainous region of Nevrea, she found herself at odds with her conservative family and traditional Nevrean society. As a young adult, she fled her home village and lived as a wanderer before finding her way to the city of Gold Ring. She faced great discrimination in Gold Ring, as Nevreans were viewed as outsiders and lacked rights. However she made friends with another Nevrean named Ichiro, and a tolerant Sergal named Millie. Thanks to her friends, she avoided becoming a beggar. Yet despite how much they have helped her, she still often acts cruelly and vindictively toward them. Ichiro, her best friend, also had a difficult upbringing, yet he doesn’t behave the way she does. She knows she has unstable emotions, yet she has also tried to suppress her emotions all her life. Perhaps this is her biggest complication, she wonders. Now that Nevreans are finally being recognized as equals in Gold Ring, maybe she will be able to change?
