Gyako knocked on the door and was greeted by a raspy "come in." Upon entering, Gyako and Erilia found themselves in a quaint office. There was a desk in the back centre with a window bringing in most of the light. A large shelf of books, tools and what seemed like maps lay scattered among the shelves along the right wall. On the left wall was a large banner of the guild. Sitting at the centre desk was an elder grey tabby dragon cat. He had black stripes on his face and arms and wore glasses. He was busy filling out forms and had not looked up at his visitors yet.
"Ummmm excuse me?" Gyako started, "We were looking to join this Adventurer's guild."
"You would have to pay the 30 gold signing fee before I'm able to give you the application form," the old cat said.
"Oh well, you see. We don't really h-" Gyako said opening his bag to show the lack of funds they had. However, he was greeted to the surprising sight of a whole pouch of over 100 gold. Next to it was a letter addressed to him. It read "thanks for helping mom's business, here's something for your travels" - Marlow.
"Oh, I guess I do have it, thanks Marlow," Gyako whispered.
Gyako hands the guild master the appropriate amount of money and he hands him back the form. This is when he finally looks at him and a shocked expression comes over him.
"Oh my Flambile! Gyako is that you?!"
"Ummmm me," Gyako say pointing at himself, "Y-yeah that's my name."
"Don't you recognise me boy?! It's me Dian!"
"Oh, I'm sorry I don't recognise you."
"Bah you wouldn't," the cat swung his paw giving up. He got up from his chair and put his arm around Gyako.
"I used to be friends with your dad. We were partners, he was a great adventurer."
Gyako tried his best to remember, he could make out some figure that always came by his house when his father was leaving on one of his trips but the memory was still foggy. All he had to do was believe what this old cat was telling him.
"I think I do remember you, I just never got your face. You always came by when dad was leaving."
"Ha ha sorry I took him away all the time but he was the one who cannot stay in the same place for too long," he rambled. "Boy if you would have seen us. Travelled across the whole country, from hell and back, across the great seas searching treasures and lost kittens.
"W-wow, you've really done a lo-"
"Fighting bad guys, flying dragons, undersea adventures, sky adventures, lost ruins. Ahhhhh great times."
Gyako paused not wanting to interrupt him.
"So, following in your dad's pawsteps are ya," he asked.
"Yes sir, I've been envious I've never got a chance to go on one of these trips before dad went."
"Well don't worry you'll find yourself very busy here."
"That great!" Gyako exclaimed, "But I have an issue." Gyako pointed back at Erilia who was entertaining herself by toying at the banner on the wall. "I don't know where to keep her and she's got no family."
"Ahhh don't worry about it," the guild master said, "She can stay here with us. Your father made me promise not to leave any stray kittens around. She may even become a good adventurer when she's older."
"Oh thank you thank you thank you so much!" Gyako cheered, "Hear that Erilia? You can stay!"
Erilia looks over with a big smile. "I get to stay with big brother?"
"Yes!"
"Yayyyyyy!!!" the little cat screamed as she jumped into Gyako's chest knocking him to the floor. They both laughed it off.
"Right them," the elder cat clapped his paws together," I'll get you acquainted with one of our seniors so you can get started with your training. She should be back any time now."
