I had completely forgotten about these old photos I took of a freshly molted adult male hissing cockroach. Edited a little and decided to post. This one shows the tiiiny little hairs that form around the legs and other areas of the roach's body. No, not the big black spines... look closer :)
And yes, there are a few mites but they are harmless, if anything, beneficial to the roach and roach owners. They clean debris and mold from the roach's mouth and breathing holes and can actually help reduce cockroach allergens.
