"L'état c'est moi" (The state is me)

-Louis XIV describing himself.


This is a drawing I made of my character Jean, who is characterized as the former 17th century French monarch, Louis XIV, or better known as "Le Roi Soleil" (The Sun King).


Not long ago I found the story of Louis XIV very interesting, for how he managed to survive several illnesses from an early age, reign alone despite disagreements with his mother, build a great palace that today is a world heritage site, and manage to govern for a long time until old age.

As for the palace of Versailles itself, who would have thought that a swampy place would go from being the seat of the old castle of Louis XIII (1624 - 1634), to later be converted into a huge golden cage where the Sun King (Louis XIV) had complete control over the nobility with its absolutist court (1661 - 1715), it would later end up being looted during the French Revolution by a people angry with the wasteful monarchy (1789 - 1794), abandoned in the Napoleonic era except for the "Grand Trianon" (1804 - 1815), partly restored in the reign of Louis XVIII (1824), converted into a museum by Louis Philippe I (1837 - 1843), taken as the site of proclamation of the German Empire during the Franco-Prussian War (1870 - 1879), being the site of the famous treaty that would end the First World War (1918), almost entirely destroyed by a bomb planted in a Breton nationalist attack (1978), rebuilt in the "Great Versailles Project" (2003 - 2020), and is currently a tourist area.

Without a doubt, the Sun King as always dazzles with his dazzling brilliance xD


PS: Both the flag of the French monarchy and the palace itself were drawn in a simple way to achieve the quick completion of this drawing, for which I apologize if they do not achieve a good historical representation.

"El estado soy yo"

-Luis XIV describiendose así mismo.


Este es un dibujo que hice mi personaje Jean, quien está caracterizado como el antiguo monarca francés del siglo 17, Luis XIV, o mejor conocido como "Le Roi Soleil" (El Rey Sol).


No hace mucho se me hizo muy interesante la historia de Luis XIV, por como logro sobrevivir a varias enfermedades desde a temprana edad, reinar en solitario a pesar de los desacuerdos con su madre, construir un gran palacio que hoy en dia es un patrimonio de la humanidad, y lograr gobernar por un largo tiempo hasta la vejez.

En cuanto al palacio de Versailles en si, quien diría que un lugar pantanoso pasaría de ser la sede del antiguo castillo de Luis XIII (1624 - 1634), para luego ser convertido en una enorme jaula de oro en dónde el Rey Sol (Luis XIV) tenia el control total sobre la nobleza con su corte absolutista (1661 - 1715), mas tarde terminaría siendo saqueado durante la Revolución Francesa por un pueblo enojado con la monarquía derrochadora (1789 - 1794), abandonado en la era Napoleónica a excepción del "Grand Trianon" (1804 - 1815), restaurado por una parte en el reinado de Luis XVIII (1824), convertido en museo por Luis Felipe I (1837 - 1843), tomado como sitio de proclamación del Imperio Alemán durante la Guerra Franco-Prusiana (1870 - 1879), siendo lugar del famoso tratado que daría fin a la Primera Guerra Mundial (1918), destruido casi en su totalidad por una bomba plantada en un atentado nacionalista Bretón (1978), reconstruido en el "Proyecto del Gran Versailles" (2003 - 2020), y ser zona turística en la actualidad.

Sin duda, el Rey Sol como siempre dislumbra con su encandilante brillo xD


PD: Tanto la bandera de la monarquía francesa y el propio palacio fueron dibujados de manera simple para lograr la pronta culminación de este dibujo, por lo cual me disculpo si no logran una buena representación histórica.
