In the fires of the cosmos, in the darkness of the dawn of time, the world was forged. Atum, the creator toiled, with blows from his mighty hammer the ground was made firm and the rocks would reach upwards forming mountains like blades piercing the sky. As the heat from creation died, Atum left it in his daughter’s, Bastet’s, care. Atum continued his never-ending task to give shape to the universe while Bastet watched the fledgling world. The world was nothingness so Bastet imparted unto the barren world her beauty. Across the barren world she filled it with lush plant life. The mountains she covered in green forests; the flatlands she gave verdant fields of emerald grass. From the heavenly maiden’s own chalice she poured life-giving water into the valleys and chasms of the world. And to watch over the multitude of life born from her thoughts, Bastet fashioned four immortal beings from her father’s stones and mountains. She named them Panthera or “guardians” in her tongue. To the striped one, she gave dominion of the waters. To the maned one, she gave dominion of the plains. To the white spotted one she gave command of the mountains and to the brown spotted one the forests. The four territories were guarded fiercely, but as time passed and the animals grew in number, each of the four Stewards of Bastet felt a restlessness. They were alone. Bastet saw her Panthera in pain and one night visited each of them in their dreams. She summoned them to the center of the world, and presented them a choice. In exchange for their eternal lives Bastet would bless them with the companionship of her daughters. Loyal to Bastet and enticed by the beauty of her daughters each agreed to exchange their immortality. From these four the entire Panthera race is descended.

Welcome to the little world that has developed in my brain. I hope you all enjoy what's to come from me. Yep this is a webcomic idea... i told you i'd have some promo preview stuff for ya... When i was thinking of making more original characters i wanted to give them a story. what ended up being just backstory to characters became backstory to an entire world and how characters interconnect.
This preview highlights one of the species of the continent Basieliea, the Panthera, an anthropomorphic race of "Big Cats." This includes the Tigris (pictures here), the Leos, the Onca, and the Uncia, or the Tigers, Lions, Jaguars, and Snow Leopards respectively.
I know snow leopards arent actually "big cats" but leopards and jaguars are too similar i had to go with a snow leopard to really differentiate.
anyway panthera are a tribal and territorial people, fashioned after some cat personality traits, they are by nature semi solitary, the one exception is the Leos and i will go into detail about them in another entry.
