A triggering point for Hesperos looking for a cure for their curse and eventually accepting the quest that the Lady of the North Star offered was when using their oracle abilities started doing more than just tiring them out. They'd seen this before with their mother...
Hesperos is from a family of oracles dating back many generations. There's an oracle born nearly every generation, not always in a direct line but in their case their mother was one as well. The oracles of the family are brought to the city's divine temple where they are kept safely in comfort, almost worshipped themselves, in exchange for their prophetic abilities.
Unfortunately the gift of divine prophecy is overwhelming to a mortal frame and they are, to a one, sickly and frail because of it, almost universally dying much younger than usual for a minotaur. Hesperos' mother only lived until Hesperos turned 10. Hesperos took over her duties afterwards.
In the beginning, all the curse causes is fatigue with use of their abilities. Big prophecies take more out of them than small ones. Ones directly tied to themselves are even more draining. Then fainting begins. Eventually nosebleeds. It gradually gets worse and worse until...
Hesperos refuses to let that happen to them, even if they have to take matters into their own hands.
