Hatter is a crazy Flip who thinks that logic doesn't apply to him, often being hyperactive throughout the day and crashing randomly during the night. He's just here to have fun and enjoy his time on Earth. As for the purple outline, that's because his morals are also out of whack. Sometimes he does good things, sometimes he does bad things. It truly doesn't matter to him. Everything's gonna end eventually... (Can break the 4th wall)
