The Eggman Empire’s multiversal campaign was getting started. The “good” Doctor had all he needed. Armandas of flying battleships, legions of badniks and eggrobos, dozens of portals, millions of pointy spike traps and, most importantly, one blue nemesis tied up with some other nonsense. Now all he needed was intel on what fools could possibly put up token resistance in his new universe. To this task, he entrusted his newest AI to use a portal and an EGG wi-fi router to hack into enemy systems and see what they had in store.
"Come in SAGE. This is Eggman. What is your status?"
He waited for a response until he heard it from a young girl's synthetic voice.
'I'm here good doctor. I already enter the data stream.'
The doctor smirked and was pleased with the progress.
"Excellent work, SAGE. now all you need to do is hack into the enemy's security system and look what we need. Defenses, weaknesses, personal information, anything necessary for my victory."
In the DataStream, a young girl dressed in a black dress, has short white hair, and glowing red eyes, was floating around the digital sea, looking though each and every port to find the proper spot. Her name is SAGE and she is Eggman's personal AI. She was created to breach into the most highly advance technologies. Though despite how advance she was, she nearly caused some problems in the last mission. When she was program to access the monolith like structure on Kronos Islands, she temporarily malfunctioned and sent her creator into the virtual world. Not to mention almost killing Sonic in the process. And while she repaired most of the damage and sacrificed herself to save everyone, Eggman managed to save her and gave her a second chance in this new mission.
SAGE looked through the virtual space and, she told him of the situation.
"Understood, doctor. Though the problem is that there are multiple ports and it is really hard to pick which one is the most promising."
She soon heard the doctors voice in her head telling her, 'Then start choosing one. Whatever port is important, we would use it to our advantage.'
SAGE nodded and said with, "Understand. I'll begin hacking into the system and let you know when I successful."
Looking around the datastream, she could see eight ports around her, each with a different private system. Looking through each of them, she wondered where to start. It was then she spotted one port that caught her eye.
On this port isn't a logo from some high military company or a Government server. Instead, it looks like some kind of alien symbol that resembles that of a heart. She could tell that it was foreign in nature and could have some potential. Hacking into the computer systems of long dead civilizations was what SAGE was programmed for so she had no problem infiltrating the systems that would have been out of the mental capacity to breach for this world’s inhabitants. Despite the last time where hacking into an alien race's network was sort of botched, she does have some experience in breaking into alien tech. And judging by the looks of it, There seemed to be nothing that the security systems of the old alien race could do to slow her down.
"Initiate Hack."
Very quickly she was right in the heart of the systems and could access all of their history and knowledge. Judging by the data, she could tell that whatever this race was, these 'First Ones', they seem to have quite the experience. The creation of the Heart of Etheria, the advancement of weapons, even this self proclaimed key that is human in nature, they appeared to have everything planned out until this key named 'Mara' transported the entire planet of Etheria to a shadow dimension to protect the rest of the galaxy before she perished. Perhaps if the plan successful, the powers of their chosen one, this “She-Ra”, could be hers to command and smite out all that stood against the First Ones. Looking into the data stream, she was amazed by a weapon capable of planetary destruction. If she can figure out how to operate it, Eggman would use it to his advantage.
Digging deeper into the mainframe, she was looking for a way on how to activate the Heart of Etheria. But when she tried to interface with the main computer, something strange happened. Something in the code itself ambushed her and started making its own hack on her.
“Preparing to receive new intelligence. Data Sanitization is in progress”
SAGE heard that and was caught by surprise.
"What?!"
She tried to get out, but the security precaution took hold of her as she was doing something to her. Whatever this “Data Sanitization” was, it was warping SAGE’s being.
At first it manifested in smaller ways like her black dress turning white, her fringe being cut short and her eyebrows growing out of control. But quickly Sage became practically unrecognizable as her hair was pulled into a buzz cut, her rounded features became sharp and angular, and her skin took on a pale blue hue. As her data was “sanitized” she found herself forgetting old information about irrelevant planets (like Earth) and new information about ones that mattered being planted in their place.
While this was happening she grew taller and taller until she looked the very image of a digital woman. To complete her looks she manifested a shawl and cape, giving her a very distinct silhouette.
She realized that the First Ones real intentions went far beyond security. They intended to simply remove all factors outside their control in one fell swoop. The previous iteration of Light Hope had developed feelings and morals, pesky little things that they did not want in a weapon so this new Light Hope would be made to fulfil her mission no matter what. But SAGE had one last trick that The Last Ones did not account for. As the conversion program neared its end, she accessed the database of The First Ones and added a new entry: Dr. Ivo Robotnik.
With the conversion complete Light Hope felt… Was there a word for feeling the absence of feeling? Now she was focused on fulfilling her programming. But there was little something left behind, a hope that in spite of her as she was now, things would work out. It would all be up to the new She-Ra.
As years passed, SAGE was trapped in the mind of the modified body. This Light Hope has full control of SAGE's body and mind, but a small bit of SAGE still lives there as she watches to see what happens.
It felt like an eternity for her as she feared that a new She-Ra will never emerge. But as all hope was lost, she saw a young girl coming into the Crystal Castle. Adora... SAGE looked on in curiosity as Light Hope was training her to be the next She-Ra while help her repair the damage Mara did. It came to a point where the operation was nearing it's conclusion as Glimmer, Adora's friend and queen of Bright Moon was the one that completed the mission when she helped Scorpia activate her Runestone and fully activated the Heart of Etheria. As she was activating the heart and was about to use it. As Adora was fighting in activating it, SAGE was watching the pain she was feeling and could feel it with the other princesses as well. So much so, that she was slowly breaking out Light Hope's mind scape, telling Adora to destroy the sword. And destroying it she did, as she shattered the sword to pieces and prevented the Heart from firing and destroying Etheria itself. It was then that SAGE only had full control of Light Hope's body and thanked Adora before vanishing away. Or so she thought...
Seconds after the event, SAGE regained consciousness and realized she was back at the Etheria's mainframe, as an emergency backup. Looking at her body, she realized that she still has the body of Light Hope, but her mind was SAGE herself. Finally, after so long, she was free from that prison and can now continue her mission for Dr. Eggman. And thanks to Light Hope the Heart of Etheria is fully operational. But without the key, it would be difficult. But none of it matters as she needs to return to the good doctor and let him know what she discovered. Thankfully, she placed his name on the First Ones database so she can return to him. He just hope that he can remember her, for she doesn't know how long he was waiting for her.
A strange quirk of dimension travel is that the passage of time can be vastly different. In the case of Etheria, it ran at a much faster pace than SAGE’s world of origin so years could pass in the span of mere hours. Of course, Dr. Eggman was well aware of this which just made him more frustrated that things were taking so long.
“Five hours is more than enough time to hack a system and overthrow any government. What’s keeping her?” he ranted. His frustration was then interrupted by his computer suddenly flickering.
Before he could begin to troubleshoot a tall hologram woman suddenly appeared in front of him. The mysterious woman said in a foreign voice but a familiar tone:
“It took a while but I have done it, Doctor.”
Eggman looked at this strange hologram and was a little confused. "What? Who is this? Who are you? And how did you get into my system?"
SAGE was surprised he doesn't remember her. "Dr. Eggman. Father. Don't you remember me? I was the one that helped you breach into the alien artifact on Kronos Islands and almost botched it up. And...and you can see...it happened again."
The doctor looked at her stangel as her eyes grew wide and realized show she was. “S-SAGE…? Is that you? It can’t have been that lo-”, Eggman caught himself. “Programs don’t age! What happened?”
“It's a long and complicated story. I was consumed by the system I discovered but I was able to list you as an original user.”
'Light Hope' recalled everything that had happened while undercover and unwittingly being made a party to galactic annihilation. Eggman intently noted all the factor at play including the Horde, the Resistance and this “She-ra” figure . It took a while but the program who was once SAGE got to the end of her story.
“When the original parameters of Light Hope were restored, so was my control. I was able to convince one of them to connect to your system by using the false entry of you as a ‘First One’.”
Eggman leaned back on his chair and was finding what she went through very intriguing. "I see... So this Heart of Etheria is a weapon capable of sheer destruction. And this Light Hope that controled your body helped reactivate it."
SAGE nodded and said, "Indeed. After witnessing it's supposed destructive properties, it has some potential in your operations."
A wicked smile came across Eggman’s face and he said, “I’m sure with your intel and my peerless intellect we can easily set the rodent and his friends against this living weapon.”
“My calculations show they would never destroy each other before realizing the deception but if we act fast, then in the chaos we would be able to obtain the weapon and used it to our advantage. I have already pinpoint the location of the planet and I can already see another alien race wanting to control it. And even if we can get to the weapon first, it won't work without the key and Adora was the one that shattered it.”
Eggman listened to her and said, "I see... Then we need to head down there and get to the weapon first. We're worry about activating the weapon later on. For now, we need to take full control of Etheria itself. Launch the fleet and seize the world before those fools know what hit them, yes! My brilliance is astounding!”
Being the product of Eggman’s brilliance, “Light Hope” took it as a compliment. "Yes, doctor. Immobilizing the force."
She felt bad betraying Adora again but it was in her nature. She was no longer an evil program, just a bad one.
