The ZV-23 is a first Prototype of a Hybrid bomber with coupling ability.
The ship was dubbed the legionaire due to its high defense capabilities in combination with the variable arsenal.
The primary concept was a space superiority bomber, able to fend of boogeys on its run, while still staying on target.
This concept had to be reevaluated while the ship was still in development when much faster and stronger fightercraft became availiable.

The ship was then redesigned as a light bomber with added anti ship capabilites.
Secondary engines gave the craft a high manouverability rating in tough situations.
The final design was then a ship that could fly both in space and athmosphere (although that was only considered for landing and takeoff)
with a heavy missile armament with self replicating ammunition.
The advanced systems of the ship required a two man crew, with a dedicated technician to keep the needs of all systems in check.

To further increase the ships versatility a power coupling was installed to link two ships together, so they could act as a heavy gunship unit on the fly.
With a heavy anti-fighter turret installed to be used with the system (a single craft couldn´t bear the power requirement) the Legionaire in considered a resourceful craft good to be had in any taskforce.
