This was the moment of truth for one Airyana Fetherstone. She followed all the rumors to this: a walk through a thick forest up in the mountains tipped off to her by a small native tribe at the base. The hen purred as she padded along the woods as the sun shone through the leaves, looking straight ahead as something of interest caught her eyes… a small cavern that seemed to have a warm glow coming from inside. “Well… This must be the place the chief was talking about.”
Airyana stopped for a moment before advancing into the cavern, rolling her eyes and mulling in audible thought to herself, “I don’t get what that old coot of a chief was getting at though. Telling me my mind wanders, how my head’s stuck in the clouds. Pfft… whatever. Old fool’s probably senile as anything…” The griffoness finally stepped further into the cave, finding that it didn’t exactly go in too deep. In fact… there was the object of her desire. Standing there on a pedestal was a strange idol with a rather demonic visage and horns. It was really nothing more than a head and neck, though its golden body gave off an unearthly, crimson aura. “…I guess that thing must be it. Definitely not spectacular looking, to say the least, but if it can do what it’s fabled to do, it’ll be worth… it…?” If there’s one thing the light did, it showed something to Airyana that made a cold chill run down her spine: There were corpses… well… skeletons of presumably other people who happened upon this place. “Um… well that’s not good.”
