POV:
You move into a new apartment complex. You had to move towns, get a new job. Your weird coworker from the lab gave you a parting gift: some normal looking lollipops. you think nothing of them. You put them in your car on your last day and forget about them. You never really cared for that coworker; but somehow he always tried to get your attention and tried to partake in some of his experiments. But that's history now, new town, new job, new coworkers.
The first night in the new town, you live in a ever so slightly smaller apartment a few stories up. You can see the river from up here. A knock on the door at 6PM; The new neighbor comes to visit, tries to get to know you. He saw you struggling with the furniture in the elevator. Wanted to help, but you looked to focussed and already annoyed.
You invite him in, and apologize for the mess. Still halfway in a mental-unpacking-mode, you grab the first thing that was on top of this pile, trying to find a new spot for it: the lollipops.
You instinctively put them on your countertop that faces your open living room. It warms up the space ever so slightly.
The 6'1 neighbor who towers ever so slightly above you grabs one. "May i?"
You nod. "Of course. Help yourself." You turn around to grab the next thing from the boxes.
The pots. You haven't decided on where to put them yet, so you just put them inside the oven on the baking tray. As you go grab the next thing from the pile, your 6'1 neighbor is not so 6'1 anymore. 6'1 turned inti 6'3. 6'3 turned into 6'6. no one said a word.
You both stare at each other: One shrinking one growing from each others perspective. 7'2. He has to really duck under doors now. Showers will prove difficult. 7'5. You instinctively go a few steps closer. Trying to asses the situation from up close. He breathes heavily and slowly; his breath controlling yours. one of his hands move closer to you. Pulling you in. Whatever is in those lollipops, can erode any social barriers away within seconds, even if there is no specific ingredient for this contained. 8'2. One of the tallest people on earth now. In your living room. You ruined his life. His career. His living situation. All his relationships. Changed. Maybe for the better? He seems to like it. His tongue stayes focused on the treat; savoring each molecule this weird spectacle has to offer.
8'7. The ceiling is inching in. Is this speeding up? Why does this come so natural to him; he seems already so used to this size?
Thump. The Antlers hit the ceilings...
