Néphie has many marine animal friends, too, one of them being Faye, a female Cape fur seal. In this scene, Faye and Néphie are on a rocky ledge, waiting for Nerin, who is visiting the Cape. Three days earlier, Faye had been told about Nerin by Néphie, and at that same time, Nerin was already on her way. Right now, though, Faye is a little bit impatient

“Quand arrivera-t-elle ? Nous attendons depuis trois jours. Elle doit se présenter à un moment donné.”

As a mermaid, Néphie has the ability to communicate with other marine mammals, and she clearly understands what Faye is saying.

“Ne stresse pas à ce sujet, Faye. Je suis sûre que Nérin sera bientôt là.”

Fortunately, however, the two friends won’t have to wait for Nerin’s arrival for much longer.
