Nintendo in 2000: "Three Legendary Pokemon spawned from a group of Pokemon who died in a fire, also one of our other Legendaries was designed by an insane man who drank himself to death."

Nintendo in 2023: "Your motorcycle gets superpowers when you feed it a sandwich made with magic marijuana."

Scarlet and Violet's story and lore revolves around your Koraidon and Miraidon witnessing the death of its owner and all of the scientists in Area Zero at the hands of another of its own species. To which when it attempted to defend its owner, it was beaten bad enough to be crippled and traumatized of the whole experience. You spend the game collecting magical herbs so that it can heal and recover the ability to use its powers, and coaxing it to face its trauma in Area Zero.

And that's just scratching the surface. It gets deeper when you start touching on the fact that Koraidon's and Miraidon's existence caused their respective professor and owner to completely neglect and abandon their child, Arven. Story telling for Pokemon has only gotten better and more interesting.
